    Personalize Your Holiday

The Happy Holidays Stocking uses Lion Brand Wool-Ease for a rich, elegant look - though the White Frost colorway is just a little whimsical, and full of sparkle! The pom poms are optional, but very on trend right now - and easy to remove later if you want to do so. Add a letter from the Moogly Crochet Alphabet to personalize a stocking for someone special this year!

'Tis the season for gift giving! And all too often, that means waste - paper, gift bags, all the stuff we use to bring color to the festivities! Well, going green doesn't have to mean boring - or not being able to present presents in a beautiful way. Introducing a crochet bag that becomes part of the gift - one that can be used for years and years to come - the free Favorite Gift Bag crochet pattern!

    Customize and Pass It Down

I made the Favorite Gift Bag in just 2 colors, for a classic, unisex look that's ready to give anyone from the office Secret Santa to your new nephew. The one part most likely to wear out - the handles - are just slipped over the buttons, making them easy to replace as needed, so you can keep passing this crochet gift bag around the family for a long long time. It's a great stashbuster too - how colorful will your gift bag be?

Oh My Stitch Pattern in the Round

November 17, 2016 by Tamara Kelly 7 Comments

I love exploring a new stitch pattern, and one of my current favorites is the "Oh My" Stitch Pattern - the one used in the Oh My Hat and Oh My Cowl! The stitches themselves are pretty easy - double crochet and single crochet, with lots of chaining - but there are a few special moves that make this stitch pattern work particularly well. So here's how to crochet the Oh My Stitch Pattern in the Round!

Winged Wrap: free crochet pattern on Mooglyblog.com!

Remember when you were a kid, and you drew birds flying like very tired Vs? I know I wasn't the only one! The subtle rows of wings in the Winged Wrap are like a flock of these birds hugging your shoulders, wrapping around your neck, or adding a splash of color to your next outfit! The Winged Wrap makes a wonderful layer, a fantastic gift, and a perfect comfort shawl.

    Crochet Ballet Slippers

November 11, 2016 by Tamara Kelly 20 Comments

Crochet Ballet Slippers - free pattern on Mooglyblog.com!

A couple years ago, I had the opportunity to design a pattern for Crochet Ballet Slippers for Country Woman Magazine. And now I get to share it here on Moogly!

One of My First Published Patterns

This pattern debuted in the December/January 2015 issue of Country Woman, and it was such a thrill to see my first "published" pattern! It was also shared free on their website, which was just extra fantastic. Alas, since then, they have remodeled the site and the pattern can no longer be found.

Which led to lots of emails! Turns out, it was quite the go-to pattern for some crocheters, especially for the holidays. So I wrote to Country Woman and got their permission to share it with you all here! Thank you Country Woman!

This pattern is available in a ready to print PDF: just CLICK HERE for the Crochet Ballet Slippers Pattern! This will open it up in your computer's PDF reader, and you can make it right from the screen, or print it for personal use. I am so glad this pattern gets a second life. Enjoy! And don't forget to add it to your Ravelry Queue and Favorites!

And a couple of tips! I like the bow tied on the ankles - try it both ways and see which one you like best! Additionally, the original yarn is lovely, but a bit high maintenance. Try Lion Brand's Pound of Love, or 24/7 Cotton for an easy care alternative for gifts!
