Have you been keeping up with the #YarnHeroes? It's a fantastic initiative put together by Lion Brand Yarn, to encourage crocheting and knitting for the charities that are closest to our hearts. And to help keep the good works rolling, they are giving away 5 balls of Lion Brand Vanna's Choice to 3 winners! Enter below!
Lion Brand Vanna's Choice is what I used to design my own Yarn Heroes patterns: the Stripey Baby Beanie, Double Trouble Baby Beanie, and the Super Speedy Preemie Hat! You can read more about how I got involved here too!
Vanna's Choice is a great choice for these types of patterns, because it's easy care, comes in a big variety of colors, and a portion of the sale of every skein goes to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Doing double the good! They have donated over $1 million since 2007!
If you haven't crocheted or knitted for charity before, I hope that Yarn Heroes has encouraged you to consider doing so. And if you already do - thank you! Be sure to share your story at yarnheroes@lionbrand.com! Over the next month, Lion Brand yarn will give away $250 worth of yarn to four charity crafters who send them their stories!
And let's make it even easier... but giving away some yarn! Here on Moogly Lion Brand is giving away 5 balls of Lion Brand Vanna's Choice to each of 3 winners!! Enter below - good luck all!

Beth Roach
My Name is Beth. I live in Central New York State in a poor community. I have been crocheting since I was a little girl when my grandmother & mother taught me (over 40 years). For many years my mother would crochet baby blankets & hats for pregnant military wives whos husbands were deployed over seas and stationed at Fort Drum. When she passed away in 2012 I also wanted to do something for others in need in her memory. So I started making toddler size blankets for a local pre school for each child to use during nap time. to date I have crochet over 175 of them. I can remember one day I went there to drop them off and there was a little boy who did not have a blanket and was tossing and turning on his cot trying to get comfortable. The teacher grabbed one of the blankets and covered him. He then stood up, wrapped himself like a cocoon he layed back down all wrapped up and fell asleep. That was the biggest Thank you I ever got without any words being spoken. It doesn't end there. I also make hats & sweaters for local cancer patients which I just started doing. I make newborn blankets & hats and give them to a local women who distributes them to new mothers who can not afford them. I wish that I could help every family/child but I know that I can not afford to do so but I know that I have made a big impact on several families. If I am asked to make something I do not hesitate. I do not have to be asked twice its done. I must also state that I am disabled(heart disease) and am on a fixed income. Most of my yarn is purchased at garage sales, estate sales, second hand stores or given to me. So winning $250 worth of yarn will help me keep a lot of children warm this year. Please consider me for the giveaway. Thank you so much, Beth

Wonderful!

I crochet hats and blankets for Project Robby and scarves for Warm Up America. It helps keep my focus on what is important, keeps my hands busy when there is no gift needing to be made, and helps keep my yarn stash from taking over my house.

Thank you so much for this awesome giveaway

I've just started back crocheting after a long hiatus from a bad fall in December of 2014 and finally having reconstructive surgery on my right hand back in January (very difficult recovery). Then I ended up crushing my arm on my way into the building for a doctor's visit and I am now back in a compression sleeve and a splint. So, needless to say, all my donations are on hold at the moment. They won't make it to the hospitals and nursing homes before the holidays, but I really don't think it matters to them when they receive them...just that they receive them at all. Luckily, yarn doesn't spoil! It will still be good in 4-6 weeks when they say I can start using it again!
Tamara Kelly
Oh my gosh! I hope your arm feels better very very soon!

I live in a small town in Michigan. We have a club called The Chain Gang. We crochet & knit for the hospital at the Univ Of Michigan. We do premie hats and cancer hats plus afgans for the infusion center. We also create afghans for veterans at the V.A. Hospital. Lately we are also making hats and mittens for the Foster Child in both our county and the one next door. Some of our members are as old as being in their nineties. We can use all the yarn you can give

I started my charity Gods Tiny Angels in the fall of 1998. I wanted to make sure no baby went home without a blanket. We are still going strong helping preemies and newborns across the US!! I love crocheting and I do so every single day. The need is tremendous. As a mom whose son was in the NICU for a few days 30 years ago it is a very stressful time. Someone crocheted my son a little blue hat and I still have that hat today. 🙂 It meant alot to me to know someone who didn't even know us took time to make my son a hat. I hope to always be able to crochet and help the babies and I have a wonderful group of ladies that help !!

Thank you and Lion Brand for the giveaway! The colors posted are so bright and cheerful... they're so wonderful! Almost all my crochet work is for donation. Nicu hats, hats and scarves for a Crafting for a Cause group I belong to; they have an annual shopping day during the holidays for all their non-profit community agencies in our county. If I'm selected I think I would share the funds with the lady in New York state who commented hereand crochets more than I do! (Beth Roach).
Hope you get well soon Tamara, pneumonia is nothing to mess around with!

Thank you Rosalie! I'm getting a bit better every day. And thank you for all you do to help!
