I love organizational supplies - a lot. Maybe an unhealthy amount. But can you ever be too organized? I don't think so! And I have a LOT of yarn and crochet projects that I need to keep organized. And my favorite new organizational tool are these EzPacking cubes! I love them so much, I decided to review them on Moogly - and share a discount code for you to order your own! And I've put together a handy printable to use with them too!
Okay, so what are EzPacking cubes? Well, they are see through zippered containers in a variety of sizes, designed to fit perfectly into your luggage, making travel organization and packing easy!
EzPacking was started by Solomon Mizrachi and his mother Monica, as a travel accessories company based in San Diego, CA. Monica had the idea to design EzPacking in 2014 due to her frustration with the packing process. She soon realized that other moms had the same problem as her and could use a travel system to help organize the family on the road.
Their philosophy is "to create products that make mom’s life easier. We strive to provide the best customer service and love our customers!" Love that!! They are high quality too - the clear plastic covering and Cordura backing holds up much longer than other mesh cubes out there.
These packing cubes organize a suitcase by creating compartments to store items - which is not only great when you are packing up, but while you are there! You know suitcases get tossed around, kids paw through looking for that one shirt, and then throw their dirty stuff in there... ugh. Packing cubes keep everything in their own spaces - including a bag for dirty laundry!
After almost two years in business, they learned that crochet enthusiasts also LOVE EzPacking for storing and traveling with their yarns, needles and other equipment - so they asked me to check them out!
EzPacking sent me the Complete Bundle in Turquoise and Orange - there are lots of pretty colors to choose from, but those are my favorites! I travel a lot - and always bring my crochet with me. But I also need to keep my projects organized at home, and the EzPacking cubes work great both at home and on the road!
So here are my cubes all filled up! I can fit the yarn and WIP for a blanket in the large cube, smaller projects in the small cubes, and extra notions and accessories in the smallest cubes. (The extra small cubes are also the right size for getting toiletries through airport security - so handy!)
And the bags, originally designed for shoes and laundry, make great project bags for my carry on - or just around the house! And I love that there's a duffel bag that folds up into a pouch - perfect for yarny souvenirs!
I love that the cubes are see through so I can tell which cube to grab at a glance. I can slip my notes or pattern right in the cube with the yarn, and I know it will all arrive safe and sound at my destination, or wait patiently, safe from dust, pet hair, and 3 kids, until I'm ready to work on it again.
I'm traveling right now as this post goes up - a secret crochet project you'll all find out about next month! And the EzPacking cubes have saved my bacon. I'm organized, and ready to go - and unpacking will be SO much easier when I get home!
Whether at home or on the road, I do like to have a quick packing list for each cube to make sure I have everything I need - is there anything worse than realizing you brought the yarn, and the hook, and the scissors and stitch markers... only to realize you forgot the pattern at home? And go to EzPacking.com to check out all the great bundles and cubes they have - you can create your own set, or get one of their pre-packaged sets, perfect for different types of luggage - or to accommodate your stash! Here's how I used them:
The large packing cubes are great for yarn - a lot of it! As you can see above, I got 6 skeins of Lion Brand Wool-Ease Chunky in the orange, with room to spare, and 6 skeins of Lion Brand Ice Cream in the blue (with even more room to spare). Great for travel or storage! The medium cubes are perfect for large WIPs - in the medium sized cube above, I've got the start of a blanket, the yarn still attached, and the hook. And there is room to get a spare skein or two in there as well. One of the small cubes above is shown with the Oh My Hat in progress, with 2 spare skeins, a hook, notions, and again, room to spare! The other is holding my collection of Kreinik Carry Along Threads, keeping them safe and organized. The extra small cubes hold 22 balls of Lion Brand Bonbons (orange), and a bunch of beads and accessories for yet another project (blue). The shoes bag is shown up above as a fantastic project bag for small projects, and the duffel will always go with me for those "emergency yarn buying" situations!
And if you want to take your show on the road, the Complete Bundle is ideal for packing a standard 28" suitcase. If you are looking to pack a standard sized suitcase, or organize up to 10 projects , then this is the way to go. It is sold at a nice little discount so it's a good deal for anyone looking to buy more than a few cubes. The Starter Set is a four piece set for packing a standard carry on suitcase and is perfect for those of you that just want to try out the system and don't have that many crochet projects to organize. EzPacking also sells Individual Cubes and Bags, so you can make a completely customizable and color coded system according to your needs! Either way, I know you'll love it!
