    Spring Cellar Sweater

Made in Bernat Softee Cotton, or Your Favorite DK Weight Yarn

The Spring Cellar Sweater is designed to be a go-to topper - one that fits with and over whatever else you're wearing. You can pair it with everything from a maxi dress to jeans, and the oversize fit will guarantee style and comfort! I've included all the measurements in the Schematic below, so you can choose the perfect size for you.

    Spring Cellar Sweater

To stitch this pullover, I used Bernat Softee Cotton in a warm red - and I'm thinking I need to make another! This is a 3/Light or DK weight yarn with a majority cotton content, making it perfect for year- round wear. The simple stitch pattern means is works up fast, with minimal concentration needed.

Whether you're cozied up during a rainy day, binge-watching your favorite series, or heading out on a weekend getaway, the Spring Cellar Sweater makes the perfect project buddy. It's lightweight, comfy, and wonderfully beginner-friendly - ideal for your first garment or just a laid-back, feel-good make for any crocheter looking to unwind.

    Special Stitch:

Slip Stitch 2 Together – slst2tog: insert hook in next st, yo and pull up a loop (2 loops on hook), insert hook in next st, yo and pull up a loop, pull this loop through the other 2 loops on the hook.

    NOTES:

If you prefer not to use Foundation Stitches, you can begin with a chain that you dc into for the first row. Make 2 chs more than the desired first row stitch count, then start the first row with a dc in the 4th chain from the hook. The 3 skipped chs will count as the first dc of the row.

If you prefer not to use the CSDC stitch, you can substitute a ch 3 (counts as first dc).

When instructed to work between stitches, you are not working into a stitch or into a chain space. Instead, insert your hook between the posts of the indicated stitches. The previous stitch is the one most recently skipped or worked into. The next stitch is the one you haven't worked into or skipped yet.

The sleeves (not including the cuffs) are worked in turned rounds, so even-numbered rows will be worked from "inside" the sleeve. This is important to maintain the look of the stitches and to keep the joining seam under the arm straight.

My Experience with Furls Streamline Metal Hooks

I've been a Furls fan for over a decade now. I started with the fancy wooden Alphas and loved the forward motion of the Odysseys. But it was the Streamline shape that ultimately captured my heart. I only have one of the matte Onyx ones, but I love my whole collection!

A post shared by Tamara Kelly (@mooglyblog)

They are smooth and completely non-snagging. I've used other similarly shaped hooks before, but few were as slick. The weight is right in that Goldilocks zone - I don't notice it being particularly light or heavy while crocheting. In both knife and pencil hold, it's a comfortable fit. The shape helps prevent holding the hook too tightly, leading to less arm strain and more even stitching.

Furls Matte Onyx Streamline Metal Hooks Trio Giveaway

The tip of the Furls Streamlines are pointy enough for most stitches, without being so sharp that they end up splitting the yarn. The aluminum warms to hand temperature quickly, and the shaft is long enough to accommodate most multi-loop stitches. The hook itself is inline, and I love that the size is large and clearly marked! (Even more so on the Onyx ones!)

Furls Matte Onyx Streamline Metal Hooks Trio Giveaway

The Metal Streamline Crochet Hooks are my favorite Furls product to date. They have the gorgeous luxury, elegance, and ergonomics of the Furls brand. And they have combined that with durability, strength, and lots of pretty colors - all at a lower price point than ever. Goth crocheters have never had it so good! ♥

Spring Cellar Sweater Part 3 Instructions

    Sew Back and Front Together:

Hold Back and Front with RS together, matching up shoulder and side sts. Use stitch markers to pin in place. Using the mattress stitch (or your preferred seaming method), seam side edges of Body sections together from hem to armhole. Then, seam shoulders. Turn work RS out. (RS/WS are determined by personal preference.)

    Ribbed Hem

NOTE: The length of this section can be adjusted for personal preference - Add/remove chains to the Setup Row for a longer/shorter waistband. As written, the band should be approximately 2.5” wide.

Setup/Row 1: With RS facing, join with a sl st in first st after either side seam, at bottom edge of Body, ch 9, skip sc in top 2 loops of 2nd ch from hook, sc in BLO of each rem ch, slst2tog in the next 2 unworked sts at the waist; turn. (8 sc)

Row 3: Ch 1, sc in first st, sc in blo of each rem st across, slst2tog in next 2 unworked sts on Body; turn.

Repeat Rows 2 and 3, working around entire bottom edge of Body, ending after a rep of Row 2.

Fasten off, leaving a long tail. Use tail to sew last row and first row of Ribbing together.

    Neckline Ribbing

Row 1: With RS facing and working in sides of rows across front opening, STSC in 4th row of Left Front, sc in same row, 2 sc in each of next 3 rows, slst2tog in first 2 rows of Right Front, turn. (8 sc)

Row 2: Skip slst2tog, sc in BLO of each st across until 1 st rem, sc in last st; turn.

Row 3: Ch 1, sc in first st, sc in BLO of each rem st across, slst2tog in the next 2 unworked rows along opening , turn.

Repeat Rows 2 and 3, working around front opening and neckline, until the sides of all rows around neckline are worked, ending after a rep of Row 2, do not fasten off.

Next 8 Rows: Ch 1, sc in first st, sc in blo of next 6 sts, sc in the last st; turn. After 8th row, fasten off leaving long tail. Use tail to sew last row behind first row so that it fits into V of opening.

My Notes: Jennifer's designs always feature simple stitches used in special ways - and this pattern is the same! Don't let it's looks intimidate you - it's genuinely easier than it looks. And she includes diagrams for both right and left-handed crocheters, to help you lay out your knot.

When it's time to work around the knot, it's helpful to count back from the next point when it's time to move to the next cord section, to figure out exactly where to join to. Don't be afraid to use lots of stitch markers here, even when not called for. I found marking all the ch sps to be very useful as I worked, for all the cords.

To check your size as you work, measure one side of the first Triangle you make. That edge needs to be less than 6", or your square will be oversized. This is a chance to switch to a smaller hook for the triangles, to make them fit within the 12" block.

Helpful Links and Tutorials: Crochet Abbreviations, Join with sc/Standing Single Crochet, BLO - Back Loop Only, Treble Crochet, Dc2tog, and seamless join.

Sizing: I got to size as written (see My Notes above for how I checked it before finishing). But everyone's gauge is different, so be sure to measure as you go! Learn how to adjust for size HERE to ensure all your squares are the same size. Remember that the 12″ is measured across and up and down, not diagonally/corner to corner.

    What I Did:

I used a Susan Bates US-J, 6.0 mm Twist and Lock hook, and Red Heart With Love, and my color scheme was as follows (see pics for more info on placement):

    Short Cord 1: Merlot
    Short Cord 2:
    Boysenberry
    Long Cord:
    Mallard
    Cord Edging (all):
    Cornsilk
    Rounds 1 and 2:
    Black
    2 Triangles:
    Merlot
    2 Triangles:
    Boysenberry
    Square Edging:
    Black

This square required a mild blocking, so I used the wet blocking method.

Spring Cellar Sweater Part 2 Tutorial - COMING May 13
    Crochet Abbreviations
    Back Loop Only –BLO
    Foundation Double Crochet – FDC
    Mattress Stitch Seaming
Standing Double Crochet Join - STDC
Standing Single Crochet Join – STSC

Standing Double Crochet Join - STDC

    Details for MooglyCAL2025 Block 9

My Notes: I've been admiring Courtney's projects for a while, so I'm thrilled that she has decided to join us for the crochet along this year! The Berries and Cream Blanket Square is worked in rows. Whether they are side to side or top down or bottom up is up to you! You can orient this one in your blanket however you like. The pattern itself is fun and quick to make, with lots of color layout possibilities. In the photos, both squares are shown with the stitching in the same direction - what a different color makes!

I do recommend that you check your measurements after Row 1, to make sure it won't turn out too wide. Now is the chance to eliminate one of the repeats if necessary - but it will be drastic, so be sure! At the end, while working the edging, I found that my square was rippling a bit along the sides. So I reduced the number of stitches along each side to 32, and found that it laid nice and flat after that. Such a fun square!

Helpful Links and Tutorials: Crochet Abbreviations, Loosely Slip Stitch, and seamless join.

Sizing: I got to size as written.

    Color A and Edging: Black
    Rows 1 - 5 B: Merlot
    Rows 6 - 11 B: Mallard
    Rows 12 - 17 B: Boysenberry
    Rows 18 - 23 B: Cornsilk
    Rows 24 - 27 B: Merlot
    Row 28: Black

This square required a mild blocking, so I used the wet blocking method.

Get Ready for the May 2025 Crochet Along: Spring Cellar Sweater

April 29, 2025 by Tamara Kelly 14 Comments

    Spring Cellar Sweater

May I interest you in a new crochet along on Moogly? The Spring Cellar Sweater is an oversized, breezy, v-neck pullover that we're sharing in 4 parts over the month of May 2025! Crocheted in DK weight yarn, it's lightweight and open weave, perfect for tossing on all year long. We are going to take it step by step with lots of tutorials as we go, so this is a wonderful first garment - or just your next garment! This post has all the info you need so you're ready when we kick off on May 2nd.

Disclaimer: This post includes affiliate links. Materials shown courtesy of Yarnspirations and Furls.

The CAL is Over - But Not Forgotten!

Prefer an ad-free PDF? The full pattern is now available on both Ravelry and Etsy!

Prefer the free blog version? Keep scrolling for links to all the parts!

What You Need to Make the Spring Cellar Sweater

    Here is your supply list:

    US-I, 5.5mm hook, Furls

    1150 (1250, 1550, 1750) yds Bernat Softee Cotton (3/Light; 60% cotton, 40% acrylic; 120g / 4.2 oz, 232 m/ 254 yds) - (5 (5, 7, 7) balls
    Colorway Shown: Warm Red

    Stitch Markers

CLICK HERE to add it to your Ravelry Queue and Favorites now!

New to multisize garments? 1150 (1250, 1550, 1750) yds refers to how much yarn you will need for each size - Small/Medium (Large/XL; 2X/3X; 4X/5X). So for the Small/Medium you'll need 1150 yds, for the largest size, you'll need 1750 yds.

    Spring Cellar Sweater

Since the pattern includes 4 sizes, I'm including the schematic and measurements below so you can prep by picking the right size - and getting the right yarn amount! Feel free to pick a size that isn't your usual for a custom fit. The fit of this sweater is oversized, with a lot of positive ease.

This pattern includes sizes labeled Small/Medium (Large/XL; 2X/3X; 4X/5X) - and they will be displayed in the pattern in that format.

    Spring Cellar Sweater Schematic

    Schematic measurements (in inches)

    Made in Caron Simply Me

To create the Blueberry Twist Headband, I used Caron Simply Me, which is a bulky weight yarn with 18% wool and lots of warmth. Using only about 50 yards of yarn, you can make several items from one skein, or do some stash busting. This pattern is perfect for craft fairs and crocheting ahead of time - small and portable!

    Blueberry Twist Headband

Featuring beautiful texture created with simple front and back loop stitches, this headband has just the right amount of stretch and squish to keep you comfy and cute all year long!

My Experience with KnitPro Mini Bouquet Knitting Needles Gift Set

The first thing I noticed about the KnitPro Mini Bouquet Knitting Needles Gift Set was how nicely it was packaged, in a nice sturdy and attractive box.

It even opened up in a really satisfying way!

KnitPro Mini Bouquet Knitting Needles Gift Set Giveaway

The bag the set comes in feels strong and sturdy, but very pliable. The bow is decorative, but very well done and securely attached. On the other side of the pouch, you'll find the accessories: end caps, cable keys, finishing needles, and stitch holders, along with some instructions.

KnitPro Mini Bouquet Knitting Needles Gift Set Giveaway

Inside the main pouch, you'll find the interchangeable needle tips! They are held in place by elastic loops on a stiff board. It was hard to get it out of the bag the first time, but easy every time after that - guess it just needed a little stretch (or I needed practice). The needles are made of lightweight aluminium, and are a pretty Silver and Rose gold.

KnitPro Mini Bouquet Knitting Needles Gift Set Giveaway

This was my first time playing with 2" long needles, and I'll admit it took a little getting used to. Short needles like this are great for narrow sleeves, kids' garments - and this whole set is delightfully compact for on the go!

KnitPro Mini Bouquet Knitting Needles Gift Set Giveaway

My current knitting project has been pretty simple - just some small cloths to replace cotton rounds. But these surely made the experience feel more special! Once I got the hang of them, I loved the small size - so much more comfy for couch knitting! I would be thrilled to recieve these as a gift - and I was!

    Block #8:

    X Mix Square

    by Sandra Stitches

    MooglyCAL2025 Block 8

Above you can see the square that Sandra made in 2 colors! Below is my CAL square, in my 5 colors of Red Heart With Love - Merlot, Mallard, Boysenberry, Cornsilk, and Black.

    MooglyCAL2025 Block 8

    Details for MooglyCAL2025 Block 8

My Notes: This is the first square Sandra has designed for a MooglyCAL, and what a lovely debut! I was so pleased to receive her pattern and see how well written and easy to follow it is. This pattern is great for determined beginners, building on basic stitches and adding just a few "new" moves!

Helpful Links and Tutorials: Magic Circle, STSC - Join with sc, STDC - Join with dc, Waistcoat St, BLO - Back Loop Only and seamless join.

Sizing: After finishing Rnd 12, my square measured 10". So I worked Rnd 13 with dc instead of sc, and that got me to 12".

    Rnd 1: Cornsilk
    Rnd 2:
    Black
    Rnd 3:
    Merlot
    Rnd 4:
    Black
    Rnd 5:
    Mallard
    Rnd 6:
    Black
    Rnd 7:
    Boysenberry
    Rnds 8 and 9:
    Black
    Rnds 10 and 11:
    Merlot
    Rnd 12:
    Cornsilk
    Rnd 13:
    Black

This square required a mild blocking, so I used the wet blocking method.

Above you can see the square that Michele made in 3 colors! Below is my CAL square, in my 5 colors of Red Heart With Love - Merlot, Mallard, Boysenberry, Cornsilk, and Black.

    Details for MooglyCAL2025 Block 7

My Notes: Which way do you think you'll use it - horizontal or vertical stripes? The Baby Bobbles Blanket Square is a fun and relaxing square to make! No bobbins are needed for these rows, as we work with only one color at a time. (Lots of rest has me back on my game, so that might be a big help too, haha!) Puff stitches add tons of texture, and keep it interesting. This is a fun evening make perfect for your color creativity - I just know we're going to see some amazing ones!

Helpful Links and Tutorials: FHDC - Foundation Half Double Crochet, Puff Stitch, and seamless join.

Sizing: After making the pattern as written, my square measured 10". So I added a round of dc and another round of hdc, and that got me to 12".

    Stripe 1 (Color A) - Merlot
    Stripe 2 (Color B) -
    Mallard
    Stripe 3 (Color C) -
    Black
    Stripe 4 (Color B) -
    Cornsilk
    Stripe 5 (Color A) -
    Boysenberry
    Trim -
    Black

This square required a mild blocking, so I used the wet blocking method.

Made in Lily Sugar'n Cream, But Strong Enough for Any Weight

Made in Lily Sugar'n Cream, as seen here, it's a great dishcloth, washcloth, or lightweight trivet for your table. Switch to Scrubby if you prefer that yarn, and you'll have a super cute dishwashing set! Or what about working your Diamond Shaped Cloth and pals in thread or fingering weight yarn for a gorgeous set of trivets - or strung on a garland? Grab your biggest, fattest yarn, and you'll have wall decor for casino night!

    Groovy Game Night Grannies

The Diamond Shaped Cloth is a simple granny stitch piece - surely, the easiest of the set. I designed the Heart Shaped Cloth first, and that really set the size I tried to stick with for all of them. Even if you're newer to crochet, this pattern offers an easy-to-follow pattern, and step-by-step video tutorials to guide you will be added. Try it in worsted weight, and then have fun with it!

New Shades, New Bernat All-In-One Blanket Granny Yarn Giveaway!

March 25, 2025 by Tamara Kelly 77 Comments

New Shades, New Bernat All-In-One Blanket Granny Yarn Giveaway!

April showers came early - and dropped off 6 new colorways in Bernat All-In-One Blanket Granny Yarn! As you've probably seen, this is Bernat's best-selling, super soft chenille blanket yarn in a unique five-color skein that makes a perfect granny square every time - with only 2 ends per square. Read more below, and then enter to win 3 skeins of Bernat All-In-One Blanket Granny Yarn on Moogly!

Disclaimer: This post was sponsored by Yarnspirations and may include affiliate links; all opinions are my own.

New Shades, New Bernat All-In-One Blanket Granny Yarn Giveaway!

"Get cozy with Bernat All-In-One Blanket Granny—effortless color changes, fewer ends, and pure crafting joy. One ball creates four granny squares; five balls whip up a full-sized blanket fast. Perfect for standout home decor, cuddle up with your next project now!"

    Just The Yarny Facts:

    Content: 100% polyester

    Ball Size: 240g / 8.5 oz, 163 meters / 178 yards

    Care: Machine wash and dry

    Gauge: #6 Super Bulky

Buy It: Available exclusively on Yarnspirations.com

    New Colorways for Spring 2025!

Although this yarn just debuted a few months ago, they've now doubled the colorways available, from 6 to 12! These new options provide even more creative possibilities in this unique yarn.

New Shades, New Bernat All-In-One Blanket Granny Yarn Giveaway!

The different colors in each skein are not printed onto the yarn, and they are not tied together. Rather, they are joined to each other securely over about 2" of length. I would say sewn, though I'm not sure if that's exactly the right term. The yarn is a little bit stiffer there, but this section gives you more wiggle room for your color changes in each round.

New Shades, New Bernat All-In-One Blanket Granny Yarn Giveaway!

Each ball of Bernat All-In-One Blanket Granny Yarn will make four motifs, and each square is approximately 10.5 inches in size - see it in action below! I found it pretty easy to get the hang of, and adjust my tension to get them to turn out the right away. I also really like that there is some extra length for the last color, meaning you can use this bit to sew them together! That said, I know not everyone will be a fan of the way the color changes - give it a try and see what you think!

Get Going with Free Bernat All-In-One Blanket Granny Yarn Crochet Patterns

Now that there are new colors, there are new patterns too! Get all 9 free crochet patterns featuring this yarn so far - CLICK HERE to get them all!

    Graduated Cables Square

    by MBT Creates

    MooglyCAL2025 Square 6

Above you can see the square that Mary Beth made in 2 colors - this is the look to go for! Below is my CAL square, in my 5 colors of Red Heart With Love - Merlot, Mallard, Boysenberry, Cornsilk, and Black. And a few mistakes...

    MooglyCAL2025 6

    Details for MooglyCAL2025 Block 6

My Notes: The Graduated Cables Square is a wonderful exploration of cable patterns, and it is not for the faint of heart! If you look closely, you'll see I missed a cable, and missed that the crosses at the end of Row 5 (and its reps) were in front, not to the back like the rest. (Take note!) As I look back on my blanket, I'll remember that March is when I had Influenza and couldn't brain properly... I recommend good lighting, a table or lap desk, reading each line carefully, and patience. Once the first few rows are established, it gets a lot easier (even when making mistakes). But don't skip out on making the bobbins! You'll want to pin each bobbin to its section as you go - juggling full skeins here is just asking for trouble. But by the time it's done, you'll wonder why it was so hard to get started!

Helpful Links and Tutorials: Bobbins, Chainless Starting Double Crochet, Post Stitches, Treble Crochet, Crossed Stitches, and seamless join.

Sizing: My square came up short, so I added a round of Hdc.

    Color A: Black

    Cornsilk
    Second Section of B:
    Mallard
    Third Section of B:

    Made in Universal Yarns Vireo

I was gifted this yarn at an event a year (or was it two?) ago, and it's been waiting to become this tote! This is the first chance I've had to try Universal Yarns Vireo, and I really liked it! It was a joy to stitch!

    Matcha Cream Crochet Tote Bag

Here's the official blurb from the experts: 'A blend of sustainable tencel and wool, Vireo is a versatile yarn with a cheerful palette of 16 colors. Soft, smooth, and a touch springy, Vireo boasts remarkable stitch definition and a slight sheen. It offers just the right amount of drape and excels in lace, textural stitches, and cables. This yarn is perfect for trans-seasonal garments and accessories you can wear well into the summer.'

    Matcha Cream Crochet Tote Bag

Make the Matcha Cream Crochet Tote Bag your own!

This yarn isn't super easy to find, available primarily online - and it looks like it might be about to be discontinued, judging by the sale price that just popped up as I write this. So some suggested substitutions include LB Collection Botanic, Premier Bamboo Select, and Berocco Modern Cotton. Of course, it's a tote bag, which means you can use any weight of yarn you like - it doesn't have to "fit!"

    Matcha Cream Crochet Tote Bag

The Matcha Cream Crochet Tote Bag features built-in handles, an openwork body in crisp white, and a solid, tightly stitched bottom for added structure. The breathable mesh design makes it lightweight while keeping your items secure—ideal for shopping trips or a day at the beach!

    Matcha Cream Crochet Tote Bag

Even if you're newer to crochet, this pattern offers an easy-to-follow pattern, and step-by-step video tutorials to guide you. Say goodbye to plastic bags and hello to sustainable style! This tote is perfect for shopping, travel, or even as a lovely storage solution at home.

Jimmy Beans Wool Beanstalk Worsted Yarn Giveaway

I've gotten to know this yarn pretty well over the past month or so, since I joined the Jimmy Beans Wool 2025 Blanket Kit Club! I'm working on the Roadtrip (crochet) version, in the Trailblazer (brights) colorway, using the Beanstalk Worsted yarn (acrylic). That was a lot of tough choices for me - all the options are gorgeous! The knit design is stunning, and there are pastel versions in both crochet and knit. And if you're not into acrylic, the kit is also available in Madelinetosh Tosh Blanket 100% Superwash Merino Wool!

I am loving this club and the amazing pattern - and learning so many great new stitches! The beautiful yarn makes it even better.

Brand New Yarn for All Your Favorite Patterns

Beanstalk Worsted just debuted in February of this year, so right now, it's busy starring in the Jimmy Beans Wool 2025 Blanket Kit Club! But this is a good solid worsted weight acrylic that you could easily use in any pattern that calls for a comparable yarn. It features a gorgeous sheen, and has great drape with a wide range of hook sizes. You can see a tight ply, and there is just the tiniest bit of a fuzz to it. It's great for home decor, but also for garments and accessories!

This yarn has so much potential - and check out the amazing range of colors! There are 25 total, including just about every shade you could ask for.  What will you make with it? Have any requests?

Above you can see the square that Julie made in 3 colors - love it! Below is my CAL square, in my 5 colors of Red Heart With Love - Merlot, Mallard, Boysenberry, Cornsilk, and Black.

    Details for MooglyCAL2025 Block 5

My Notes: The Hibiscus Afghan Square is floral without being overly feminine - maybe that's why hibiscuses are Mr Moogly's favorite flower! As always, be sure to read through both the notes and the special stitches carefully. The "crocodile stitch" here is different than you might think - it's (5dc, ch 3, 5dc) all worked in the same spot. If you choose to do the 3rd loop sts rather than blo, be sure to have a sharp hook.

Helpful Links and Tutorials: 3rd Loop, Back Loop Only, Chainless Starting Double Crochet, Standing Single Crochet, Standing Double Crochet, Post Stitches, and seamless join.

Sizing: I got there early this time! In order to stay at 12", I worked Rnd 13 with hdc sts in place of the dc sts, and eliminated Rnd 14. But everyone's gauge is different so be sure to measure as you go! Learn how to adjust for size HERE to ensure all your squares are the same size. Remember that the 12″ is measured across and up and down – not diagonally corner to corner.

    What I Did:

I used a Susan Bates US-J, 6.0 mm Twist and Lock hook, and Red Heart With Love, and my color scheme was as follows (see pics for more info on placement):

    1: Cornsilk
    2:
    Boysenberry
    3:
    Mallard
    4:
    Merlot
    5:
    Black
    6 and
    7: Cornsilk
    8 and 9:
    Boysenberry
    10 and 11:
    Mallard
    12:
    Merlot
    13:
    Black
    14: skipped for size

This square required a mild blocking, so I used the wet blocking method just to make it perfect.

Here's the official blurb from the experts: 'A reflection of the great Northwest, Hawthorne is a yarn inspired by the varied and vibrant place we call home. This sturdy, colorful, superwash yarn is made up of a blend of superwash wool for comfort and warmth and nylon for strength. Together they make a beautiful canvas for colors that range from bright and playful to moody and sophisticated. A classic high twist gives this the bounce and resilience, great for projects that are both sturdy and make a statement. Use this DK-weight version of Hawthorne for heavy socks and slippers, midweight accessories, easy-care blankets, and gorgeous sweaters.'

Follow your own Northstar... to a Beanie!

The Northstar Beanie brings warmth and style together in perfect harmony! The color I used features rich, tonal blues that mimic the deep winter sky—swirling with depth and dimension, just like a starry night. The kettle dyeing gives every hat a unique look, making each one truly one of a kind! But of course, there are other lovely colors to choose from, all combining handmade charm and high-quality yarn.

For me, this was a wonderful road trip project. I was able to keep my hands busy and my mind entertained, without having to fuss with difficult instructions or stitches complicated enough to make me motion sick. Stay warm, look fabulous, and let your crochet shine with the Northstar Beanie!

My Take on the Susan Bates Twist & Lock Deluxe Set with Bag

When Susan Bates Twist + Lock Deluxe Hooks first debuted, I fell in love! The large, ergonomic handle and the space saved in my notions bag are still appreciated every time I crochet. It's so handy! Basically, the hooks and yarn cutters go into the handle - pointing out, or pointing into the hook (super handy for throwing into the project bag when delicate yarns are in use).

The cutter is safe inside if you are worried about it snagging on the working yarn or project, and when you flip it around it is great for cutting anything from thread to bulky weight yarn. Definitely, TSA approved! I'm a fan!
