My Experience with Furls Streamline Metal Hooks
I've been a Furls fan for over a decade now. I started with the fancy wooden Alphas and loved the forward motion of the Odysseys. But it was the Streamline shape that ultimately captured my heart. I only have one of the matte Onyx ones, but I love my whole collection!

They are smooth and completely non-snagging. I've used other similarly shaped hooks before, but few were as slick. The weight is right in that Goldilocks zone - I don't notice it being particularly light or heavy while crocheting. In both knife and pencil hold, it's a comfortable fit. The shape helps prevent holding the hook too tightly, leading to less arm strain and more even stitching.
The tip of the Furls Streamlines are pointy enough for most stitches, without being so sharp that they end up splitting the yarn. The aluminum warms to hand temperature quickly, and the shaft is long enough to accommodate most multi-loop stitches. The hook itself is inline, and I love that the size is large and clearly marked! Oh gosh, that's a great question, and I could see the advantages of both - but I'm not a medical person either. If you've tried Susan Bates or Boye hooks before, you've probably tried aluminum to see how that feels as a material. But the best test would be giving it a try!

I have some of the older Odyssey hooks from Furls from before they started marking the sizes on them. They are my favorite by far and the only hooks I've used for years. I do have a few of the Alphas, but prefer the Odyssey. I haven't tried any of the newer ones they make, mostly because of the cost.
