Get Ready for the May 2025 Crochet Along: Spring Cellar Sweater

    Published: Apr 29, 2025 · Modified: May 30, 2025 by Tamara Kelly · 14 Comments

    Spring Cellar Sweater

May I interest you in a new crochet along on Moogly? The Spring Cellar Sweater is an oversized, breezy, v-neck pullover that we're sharing in 4 parts over the month of May 2025! Crocheted in DK weight yarn, it's lightweight and open weave, perfect for tossing on all year long. We are going to take it step by step with lots of tutorials as we go, so this is a wonderful first garment - or just your next garment! This post has all the info you need so you're ready when we kick off on May 2nd.

The CAL is Over - But Not Forgotten!

Prefer an ad-free PDF? The full pattern is now available on both Ravelry and Etsy!

What You Need to Make the Spring Cellar Sweater

    Here is your supply list:

    US-I, 5.5mm hook, Furls

    1150 (1250, 1550, 1750) yds Bernat Softee Cotton (3/Light; 60% cotton, 40% acrylic; 120g / 4.2 oz, 232 m/ 254 yds) - (5 (5, 7, 7) balls
    Colorway Shown: Warm Red

    Stitch Markers

CLICK HERE to add it to your Ravelry Queue and Favorites now!

New to multisize garments? 1150 (1250, 1550, 1750) yds refers to how much yarn you will need for each size - Small/Medium (Large/XL; 2X/3X; 4X/5X). So for the Small/Medium you'll need 1150 yds, for the largest size, you'll need 1750 yds.

    Spring Cellar Sweater

Since the pattern includes 4 sizes, I'm including the schematic and measurements below so you can prep by picking the right size - and getting the right yarn amount! Feel free to pick a size that isn't your usual for a custom fit. The fit of this sweater is oversized, with a lot of positive ease.

This pattern includes sizes labeled Small/Medium (Large/XL; 2X/3X; 4X/5X) - and they will be displayed in the pattern in that format.

    Spring Cellar Sweater Schematic

The Spring Cellar Sweater is rather short in length is there a way to lengthen it?

I'm planning on making H - Hem to Armhole Length (including Hem Ribbing) longer myself.

Would a four weight yarn with the same hook size make a difference?

Would a cotton/bamboo blend work? I think acrylic/cotton would be too warm for this lady of a certain age!😉

Will the video be released sooner than May 7? I’m stuck already! Been trying to follow the gauge instructions and do row 2/3 for 2 hours now .. I’m not understanding it
