Block #18:
Boxed in Granny Square
by Stitch and Hustle
Above is Michele's Square, in 4 colors. Below is my CAL square, in my 6 colors!
The Details
My Notes: Michele has gone meta with this one! The Boxed in Granny features four squares of 3 rounds each, and then several border rounds - the color work possibilities are endless! Be sure to read the notes - every designer does things a little differently.
Helpful Links and Tutorials: Magic Circle, Chainless Starting Double Crochet in Magic Circle, Chainless Starting Double Crochet (in a st), Standing Half Double Crochet, Mattress Stitch Seaming, and Seamless Finishing.
Sizing: I got to 12 inches as written, but everyone's gauge is different so be sure to measure as you go! Learn how to adjust for size HERE to make sure all your squares are the same size. Remember that the 12″ is measured across and up and down – not diagonally corner to corner.
What I Did: I used a Furls US-J, 6.0 mm hook, and Red Heart With Love, and my color scheme was as follows (see pics for more info on placement):
Squares Rnds 1 and 2: One each in Tangerine, Cornsilk, Lettuce, and Iced Aqua.
Squares Border/Color A Rnd 1: White
Mattress Stitch Seaming: White
Border Rnd 1: White
Border Rnd 2: Pewter
Border Rnd 3: White
Border Rnd 4: Pewter
This square required moderate blocking. I used the wet blocking method, or you could use light steam.
