Block #10:
Flower Square
by Nicki's Homemade Crafts
Above is her square, made in 3 colors. Below is my CAL square, in my 6 colors!
The Details
My Notes: Nicki has provided both written instructions and a video tutorial (linked in the pattern) for this square, so don't be afraid to dive right in at any skill level. I do recommend that you work your sc sts in Rnds 5-7 loosely - it will make things a lot easier! And you'll definitely want to use the stitch markers to prep for the overlay!
Helpful Links and Tutorials: Magic Circle; Join with Sc; Join with Dc; Chainless Starting Double Crochet; Stitching in the 3rd loop; and Seamless Finishing.
Sizing: To get my square to 12", I worked Rnd 16 with dc sts, and skipped Rnds 17 and 18. However, everyone's gauge and tension levels are different so be sure to measure as you go. Learn how to adjust for size HERE to make sure all your squares are the same size. Remember that the 12″ is measured across and up and down – not diagonally corner to corner.
What I Did: I used a Furls US-J, 6.0 mm hook, and Red Heart With Love, and my color scheme was as follows:
Rnd 1: White
Rnd 2 - 3: Tangerine
Rnd 4: Cornsilk
Rnd 5: Lettuce
Rnd 6: Iced Aqua
Rnd 7: Cornsilk
Rnd 8: Lettuce
Rnd 9 - 12: White
Rnd 13: Lettuce
Rnd 14 - 16: Pewter
Rnd 17 -18: Skipped for size
Overlay: Lettuce
This square required moderate blocking. I used the wet blocking method, or you could use a light steam.
