Block #11:
No Place Like Home Square
by Fiber Flux
Above is her square, made in 4 colors. Below is my CAL square, in my 6 colors!
The Details
My Notes: You'll want to take a little time to plan your colors with this one - and I can't wait to see your squares! Every one is going to be so unique. Will you work all the puff rounds in the same color or mix it up? Jennifer has included a video tutorial for the JAYGO technique used here - I do recommend watching it if you're new to this join! As you make your first square, be sure to measure it. If it's more than 4" across, you'll need to do some adjusting, or your final square will be too big!
Helpful Links and Tutorials: Magic Circle; Puff Stitch; Join with Hdc; and Seamless Finishing.
Sizing: In order to keep my square from going over 12", I worked the JAYGO technique with sc sts instead of hdc. However, everyone's gauge and tension levels are different so be sure to measure as you go. Learn how to adjust for size HERE to make sure all your squares are the same size. Remember that the 12″ is measured across and up and down – not diagonally corner to corner.
What I Did: I used a Furls US-J, 6.0 mm hook, and Red Heart With Love, and my color scheme was as follows (see pics for more info on placement):
3 Squares - Rnds 1-3: Tangerine
2 Squares - Rnds 1-3: Cornsilk
2 Squares - Rnds 1-3: Iced Aqua
2 Squares - Rnds 1-3: Lettuce
JAYGO: White
Edging: Pewter
This square required moderate blocking. I used the wet blocking method, or you could use a light steam.
