Block #7:
Zinnia Blossom Square
by Kirsten Holloway Designs
Above is her square, made in 1 colorway per square! Below is my CAL square, in my 6 colors!
The Details
My Notes:Â This square is so fun – and has so much texture! You can see just how different it looks when worked in different colors vs one color – I can’t wait to see your versions! Do be sure to read through all the special stitches and terms, and check out the wonderful helpful closeup photos!
Helpful Links and Tutorials: Magic Circle; Post Stitches; Popcorn Stitch; Center Sc (Waistcoat Stitch); Psc – Picot Sc;Â Standing Double Crochet; Standing Single Crochet;Â and Seamless Finishing.
Sizing: My square was coming out a tiny bit big, so I skipped Rnd 19 and that got me to 12″. However, everyone’s gauge and tension levels are different so be sure to measure as you go. Learn how to adjust for size HERE to make sure all your squares are the same size. Remember that the 12″ is measured across and up and down – not diagonally corner to corner.
What I Did: I used a Furls US-J, 6.0 mm hook, and Red Heart With Love, and my color scheme was as follows:
Rnd 1-5: Lettuce
Rnd 6-8: Cornsilk
Rnd 9-10: Tangerine
Rnd 11-13: Iced Aqua
Rnd 14-15: White
Rnd 16-18: Pewter
Rnd 19: skipped for size
This square required mild blocking. I used the wet blocking method, or you could use a light steam.
