    Heart Filled Square

Heart Filled Square - Free Crochet pattern on Moogly

The Heart Filled Square is a reader request! I took everyone's favorite Heart Shaped Cloth, and turned it into a 12" square block, perfect for blankets and stitch-alongs - like the MooglyCAL! Share the love and enjoy the stitching with this free crochet pattern on Moogly!

    Featuring Red Heart With Love!

To make the original Heart Shaped Cloth, I used cotton - perfect for dishcloths, washcloths, and coasters. For the Heart Filled Square, I switched to Red Heart With Love! This yarn is my favorite yarn for colorwork blankets, and has been the featured yarn in the Moogly Crochet Along for several years now.

    Red Heart With Love

Red Heart With Love comes in lots of colors, is easy to find, and is easy to care for! It's a medium weight yarn, which is very popular for blankets. If you substitute with a DK weight yarn, your square will be about 10" instead of 12"

It All Comes From the Heart

I was so glad when everyone fell in love with the Heart Shaped Cloth - it's such a fun use of the granny stitch! So turning this shape into a square was a request I got several times. And of course, I had to keep the granny theme going. To add some texture, I also added an outline of surface single crochet to the heart, so it really pops!

    Heart Filled Square - WIP

And it was all just perfect timing, as the Heart Filled Square is now part of the MooglyCAL2022! Be sure to check out how I did my crochet along colors for a very different look!
