Block #6:
Rocky Mountain Spiral Square
by Snappy Tots
Above is her square, made in 5 colors! Below is my CAL square, in my 6 colors!
The Details
My Notes:Â This square has so many possibilities! And the pattern includes fantastic step-by-step photos, as well as super helpful tips and notes. Be sure to read through the whole pattern before you begin so you don’t miss any of them. The Tip for Rnd 3 on is particularly important! She’s also working on a video tutorial that should be up soon.
Helpful Links and Tutorials: Magic Circle; Working in a Spiral; Working into a Slip Stitch; BLO – Back Loop Only;Â Standing Double Crochet; Standing Single Crochet; Sc2tog; Surface Crochet; and Seamless Finishing.
Sizing: My square was coming out a tiny bit big, so I skipped Rnd 19 and that got me to 12″. However, everyone’s gauge and tension levels are different so be sure to measure as you go. Learn how to adjust for size HERE to make sure all your squares are the same size. Remember that the 12″ is measured across and up and down – not diagonally corner to corner.
What I Did: I used a Furls US-J, 6.0 mm hook, and Red Heart With Love, and my color scheme was as follows:
Rnd 1-2: White
Rnd 3-4: Tangerine
Rnd 5-6: Lettuce
Rnd 7: Iced Aqua
Rnd 8-9: Pewter
Rnd 10-17: Cornsilk
Rnd 18: Lettuce
Rnd 19: skipped for size
Rnd 20: Pewter
Spiral: White
This square required mild blocking. I used the wet blocking method, or you could use a light steam.

What color would you have used for row 19? I will need to use an extra row so I would like to put 19 in. This is my first time to do the Moogly Cal and I enjoy it so much. Thank you and have a blessed day. Moogly Cal 2022 block 6

This year I’m finishing all my blocks with Pewter, which I will then use to join the blocks. 🙂 Thank you so much!
