Block #13:
Celtic Woven Square
by Celtic Knot Crochet
Above is her square, made in 3 colors. Below is my CAL square, in my 6 colors!
The Details
My Notes: This pattern includes 3 pieces, but really two parts - the cords and the background. To adjust the background piece for size, you start with a multiple of 3, +1, plus 1 for the turning chain. This is a simple repeat, so you can adjust both the width and number of rows as needed to get a 12" square. I skipped stitches in the first round of edging, at the top and bottom, so that both featured 28 sts - to match the sides.
For the cords, I strongly recommend that you check and double-check the twists and turns before you sew the ends together! I decided to block the cords and the background separately to make the final assembly a little easier.
Helpful Links and Tutorials: FHDC, Loosely Slip Stitch, and Seamless Finishing.
Sizing: I reduced the width of the background by 3 sts, and increased the length by one row, to get to 12" square. However, everyone's gauge and tension levels are different so be sure to measure as you go. Learn how to adjust for size HERE to make sure all your squares are the same size. Remember that the 12″ is measured across and up and down – not diagonally corner to corner.
What I Did: I used a Furls US-J, 6.0 mm hook, and Red Heart With Love, and my color scheme was as follows (see pics for more info on placement):
Both Cords: White edged with Pewter
Rows 1 - 7: Iced Aqua
Rows 8 - 14: Lettuce
Rows 15 - 21: Cornsilk
Rows 22 - 28 (added one extra row): Tangerine
Edging Rnd 1 and 2: Pewter
This square required moderate blocking. I used the wet blocking method, or you could use a light steam.

♥ I'm so glad, it's so unique!
Cheryl
What kind of game is this. You cannot get the graph for the knot. You can enter your email and name 50 times and you have to get a reply email with a password that never comes. What a frustrating mess.
Tamara Kelly
Hi Cheryl! I'm sorry you're having trouble! Be sure to check your email's spam filter - such things often get caught there!
Cheryl A Kebert
I have checked my spam folder and there is nothing there from her.

Please contact the designer at celticknotcrochet@gmail.com - I cannot send it out as she owns the copyright.

How do I get the placement chart for the knot
Tamara Kelly
Hi Suzanne! I believe it is in the resource library at https://celticknotcrochet.com/our-free-resource-library
Cheryl A Kebert
She sent me an email with the code. Thanks.
Judy
I am having a hard time with the knot. Is it possible that left handed is causing my issue.? I tried to redo and do "backwards " and still not right. Any advice would be so appreciated.
Tamara Kelly
I don't *think* being left-handed should be an issue for these. They are tricky! I usually have to go over it a few times, fixing errors before I secure it. I wish I had a neat trick to share, but it's a challenge for me too!
Judy
Thanks for your quick response respons. I ended up turning the cord upside down and a
nd doing the slst then attaching it togethe. It worked well.. maybe this wi,l help others.
