Block #21:
Floating Star Afghan Square
by Mamas2Hands
Above is her square, in 3 colors. Below is my CAL square, in my 6 colors!
The Details
My Notes: The Floating Star Afghan Square is a well-written square, with some great tips and a full abbreviation list included. As always, be sure to read everything before you begin! Rnd 8, in particular, might have you second-guessing the pattern (or maybe it was just me)... but trust it! It all works out! And the result is a lovely crochet block.
I did make one small change and add an extra ch at the corners of the final round, because I know that works best with my preferred joining method. However, I neglected to pin out my picots when blocking - you can see the difference between the squares!

Sizing: I got to 12 inches as written, but everyone's gauge is different so be sure to measure as you go! Learn how to adjust for size HERE to make sure all your squares are the same size. Remember that the 12″ is measured across and up and down – not diagonally corner to corner.
What I Did: I used a Furls US-J, 6.0 mm hook, and Red Heart With Love, and my color scheme was as follows (see pics for more info on placement):
Rnds 1 - 3: Tangerine
Rnds 4 and 5: Cornsilk
Rnds 6 and 7: Lettuce
Rnds 8 and 9: Iced Aqua
Rnds 10 and 11: White
Rnds 12 - 14: Pewter
This square required very mild blocking. I used the wet blocking method, or you could use light steam.
