Inspired by the Quiet Winter Woods
The Winter Lark Blanket is made using the Larksfoot Stitch, which looks great in a variety of colors, and color schemes. But I thought that the Underbrush and Vintage White work so beautifully together to create the look of snow-laden branches! No matter which colors of Bernat Blanket Extra Thick you choose, it's sure to be a wonderful and cozy addition to your home.
Note that this pattern calls for Bernat Blanket Extra Thick, but Bernat Blanket Big (sold at Michaels) is a good substitute. However, you will need 4 skeins of each color as they are smaller balls.

Hidden Pocket Crochet Scarf

Winter comes with its own trials and tribulations, but digging through a big bag while standing around in the cold doesn't have to be one of them! The Hidden Pocket Crochet Scarf is fuzzy, cozy, and perfect for travel this season, and it's a free crochet pattern on Moogly!

Relax... It's Sheepy!
Bernat Sheepy can be an intimidating yarn to work with. You can't see your stitches, and counting rows? Forget about it.
But... this means no one else can tell either! Stick your hook in there and go. It's all good! I've designed this scarf to be just 12 stitches across. Count your stitches, and you're good to go.
Don't stress about making sure you've worked into the correct part of the chain, or under both loops. If it looks good... it's great! The fabric should be thick, soft, and solid. That's what matters.

Ready to Take on the World!
The Hidden Pocket Crochet Scarf keeps your most important documents close to hand, right where you need them. But not where others will look, keeping them a bit safer as well.

I designed the pouch to be just the right size for a few cards, a bit of cash, and maybe keys or lip balm. Prefer a particular size of pouch? Just add or subtract stitches and rows to get the specific size you need. It's just single crochet, you can do it!
And that's not all! On my next plane ride, I'm planning to use the Hidden Pocket Crochet Scarf as a pillow too! Folded up in thirds, it's just the right size. And then I can just throw it on when it's time to go!

POCKET (optional) - COLOR C and 6 mm crochet hook
Row 1: Leaving a long tail, ch 13, skip the ch closest to the hook, sc in each rem ch across; turn. (12 sts)
Rows 2 - 8: Ch 1, flo sc in each st across; turn.
Row 9: Ch 1, blo sc in each st across; turn.
Rows 10 - 16: Ch 1, flo sc in each st across; turn. After Row 16, break yarn and finish off, leaving another long tail.

FINISHING AND ASSEMBLY
Finish the Pocket
1: Sew the zipper to the first and last rows of the pouch, per the manufacturer's instructions.
2: Use the long tails to whip stitch the sides of the pouch together. Do not break yarn leftover from seaming.
Prep the Scarf
3: Measure 18" from Row 1, and place a stitch marker there. This will be the seaming line.
4: Measure 9" from Row 1, and place a stitch marker there. This will be the folding line.
Add the Pocket
5: Center the pocket between the seaming line and folding line, and attach it with stitch markers.
NOTE: If you are right-handed, you most likely wish the rest of the scarf to lay to the left. If you are left-handed, you most likely wish the rest of the scarf to lay to the right. Try it on to see which you prefer before taking the next step. Make sure the pouch opening faces up!
6: Use the remaining long tails to sea the pocket into the scarf.

Create the Loop
7: Fold the scarf at the 9" folding line, so that the pocket is hidden inside. With Color A, sew Row 1 to the 18" seaming line. Weave in all ends.
To Wear the Hidden Pocket Crochet Scarf
Wrap the scarf around your neck, and insert the last row through the loop and pull! You can wear it as tight or as loose as you prefer. The pocket should be between the long end of the scarf and the outermost portion of the loop.
