Cheep Cheep!
Last time I asked, "Where will the Squishes end?" And the answer is no time soon, because I keep getting so many fabulous requests! The Duckie Squish is another sweetie - a much-requested one! The feet took a bit of work - these are the final version, and I think I got them just right.

As usual, this squish is filled with a microbead pillow ball. And like the chicken, it may be a tight fit, depending on your gauge. If you like it a little looser, you can use fiberfill or the filling of your choice. Or add another round to each piece of the body before the round with the wings!

Big Amigurumi with Bernat Blanket
As mentioned above, I've used Bernat Blanket for theDuckie Squish! Super bulky yarn makes these round amigurumi animals quick to crochet, and ultra squishy and satisfying! You can switch yarn weights to change the size of the finished piece - just be sure to pick a hook size that gives you a nice sold fabric!

I've included lots of photos to help you every step of the way - if you have questions, be sure to drop them in the comments!
This crochet duck pillow is fun to make – and pet and squeeze! I used safety eyes, but this pattern has not been tested for safety for children under 3 years of age. If you are crocheting it for a baby or toddler, you may wish to embroider on the face and make sure that the pieces are sewn on quite securely. If using it as a photo prop, be sure not to leave the toy with a baby unattended.

Bawk Bawk!
Where will the Squishes end? Who knows?! I love making them, and I hope you do too. The Chicken Squish is the latest addition - a much-requested one! I had a lot of fun coming up with new details and features for this design. Every new one becomes a new favorite! I adore this guys tiny little wings and comb, with silly floppy toes!

As usual, this squish is filled with a microbead pillow ball. This one is a tight fit, so it might fool you - but I love the firm feel! If you like it a little softer, you can use fiberfill or the filling of your choice. Or add another round to each piece of the body before the round with the wings for a looser fit!

- Sew the Comb to the center top of the Top Half of Body. Be sure to position it perpendicularly to the little wings on the sides.

- Sew the Feet to the Bottom Half of the Body, leaving the toes loose. Be sure to position them facing away from Rnd 13. Flip one over so that they are mirrored.

- Sew the Tail to the Bottom Half of the Body, at the end of Row 2 of the tail. Be sure to position it behind the feet, centered between the wings. Sew around Rnd 11/12 of the body.

- Use the long tail on the Top Half of Body to whip stitch the Top and Bottom together JUST OVER HALF WAY around. Be sure to match up the wings, and face the eyes and feet in the same direction. Stop just a few stitches past the second safety eye.
- Sew the Beak to the front, between the eyes, overlapping the seam. Push the beak out a bit while sewing to create a beaky shape.

Insert the pillow ball or fill with fiber fill. Finish using the long tail on the Top Half of Body to whip stitch the Top and Bottom together.

Crochet Creatures of Myth and Legend Review
A Bit About the Author
Author Megan Lapp runs the Etsy shop Crafty Intentions, and it's full of amazing, fantastical designs, just like the ones seen in this book. Here's how she describes her shop:
"Fantasy creatures, beautiful animals, clearly written and formatted patterns, step by step photo tutorials, for handmade magic! Detailed glossaries, materials lists, and extremely clear instructions to ensure your success in creating these epic crocheted creations!"
Looking through her shop is so inspiring, and such a delight. There are dozens of wonderful creatures, but there are also a couple of shawls that are the kind of costume pieces you wish you could wear every day and live your own magical fairy tale!
19 Amazing and Astonishing Amigurumi
One of the first things I noticed about Crochet Creatures of Myth and Legend was the gorgeous printing and heft of it - this book has some weight! And that's because it's chock full of step-by-step details and great tips.

And while there is an important and informative stitch glossary at the front, it doesn't waste time trying to teach you to crochet again. For this book, you're going to want to have a little bit of experience stitching under your belt.

Because wow... just wow! Each turn of the page is so pleasing. There are so many full-color photos to help you through every step of each design. Blue boxed contain helpful notes and hints as well.

I would say that the instructions are not written out in the standard format, but in a shortened format that is popular with amigurumi designers. And it makes sense for projects like this, where you are making unusual moves and shapes, and stopping every so often to do a bit of sewing or attaching!

All the projects are made with worsted weight yarn and a US-G, 4mm crochet book. Megan has a few suggestions, including Red Heart Super Saver. But I think these designs would be just as amazing in a thread - or jumbo yarn! If you or someone you love is into fantasy creatures, Crochet Creatures of Myth and Legend is a must-have for your crochet bookshelf!

Get your own copy of Crochet Creatures of Myth and Legend today!
You can find Crochet Creatures of Myth and Legend wherever books are sold, and of course, that includes Amazon.com (this link should take you to your country's version of Amazon)! And if you're looking for something specific, be sure to check out her Etsy shop, Crafty Intentions!

What I Love About the Clover Shaped Cloth
This pattern features one of the most classic crochet stitch patterns - the granny stitch! And I love that it features the versatility of crochet - you can make any shape, anything you can dream of. Finally, March isn't just National Crochet Month - and St. Patrick's Day has always been one of my favorite holidays. Crochet has a special place in Irish history, and being a bit Irish myself... well it all comes full circle!

You might have noticed that this pattern pairs nicely with the Heart Shaped Cloth! Like that pattern, the Clover Shaped Cloth can be made in any yarn. Lily Sugar'n Cream, shown here, is perfect for the kitchen and bath. And it makes a great applique for a tote or tee! Switch things up and make it with Aunt Lydia's for a quick pin to make sure you're wearing the green, or make it in Bernat Blanket Extra Thick for a festive and bold statement piece or wall hanging!

Chunky Blanket Bag Tutorial
Bernat Blanket Giveaway
Chunky Blanket Bag

The Chunky Blanket Bag is a revamp of an old Moogly pattern, which used a discontinued yarn. I have remade it with some new yarn options, and updated the written pattern to be better than ever! Use your favorite shades and styles of Bernat Blanket to whip up your own simple handbag with this easy beginner crochet pattern on Moogly!

Revisiting the Chunky Stripey Bag
The original Chunky Stripey Bag called for a very unique, but unfortunately, short-lived yarn, called Bernat Dimensions. I always loved the design, so when the yarn went away it was a sad day. Now that it's been a few years, I thought it was time to bring it back to life! So I grabbed some different varieties of Bernat Blanket and gave it a new look (and the written pattern a bit of editing)! It's still easy, fun, and perfect for crochet beginners. And you can whip one up in just a few hours!

Grab Your Favorite Bits of Bernat Blanket
Bernat Blanket lives in most of our stashes, and there are so many more colors to add (I just re-ordered a bunch myself)! You can make the Chunky Blanket Bag with less than one skein of pretty much every variety. You can make this bag with one skein, or use partials (or an O'Go) to create a striped look. It's a great stash buster!

The ease of this pattern and the availability of this yarn make it a great project to learn to crochet with, teach with - or just relax with! I hope you enjoy it and find yourself making a whole bunch as I have!

Set Up for the Handles
Place stitch markers in sts #10, 22, 35, 47; check alignment for handles, adjust if needed. The stitch markers will act as a guide in the next row, so your counts for the next row will shift if you shift the stitch markers. Individual variations in tension may make this shift necessary. The goal is to have handles wide enough for your hands, and centered at the top of the bag.

Rnd 17: Ch 1, sc in the first 10 sts, ch 11, skip the next 11 sts, sc in the next 14 sts, ch 11, skip the next 11 sts, sc in the last 4 sts; join with a sl st. (50 sts and chs)
