Heart Shaped Cloth - free crochet pattern by Moogly

The Heart Shaped Cloth is a dishcloth, a washcloth, a coaster - and a cute way to spread love and cheer this Valentine's Day or any day! Featuring the classic granny stitch, it's a free crochet pattern here on Moogly!

    Pick Your Favorite Yarn

I made the Heart Shaped Cloth with Red Heart Scrubby Smoothie - it's one of my favorite cotton yarns. But you could use Lily Sugar'n Cream to keep it dishy/washy or do something fun and textured for a coaster - or even hang them from a garland!

    Granny Stitch Shaping

I used the classic granny stitch to design the Heart Shaped Cloth, but to get that iconic shape I played with the ends of the rows. If you need help, be sure to check out the video tutorial (coming February 11th). It's a quick project and perfect for stash busting!

You might notice the chart on the card in the photos - that's the chart for this pattern, and it's included below! I'll have more fun ideas for what you can do with this chart very soon too!

Love this Heart Shaped Cloth!! I can think of many ways to use this--and thanks a million for including a graph--I find having a graph sometimes makes it easier to understand some pattern directions!

Granny stitch is one of my favorites! Love how you shaped it into this heart washcloth.

Love this pattern. Made so many as gifts. I love the chart. I even used a chunky yarn and made a big one for a friend and she framed it on her bedroom wall.
      Thank for a great pattern.

I love this pattern and your tutorial. I used Crafters Secret cotton in red, made them for my girls for Valentine's Day, to be used as a hot pad.

      Hello
I am not sure what the directions mean, 3 dc between previous stitch in. Row three. Could you explain? Cute heart. Nancy

Hi Nancy! The skip you *just* skipped is the "previous" stitch - we are working between the posts, just like the granny stitch. The linked video tutorial above should be a big help!
