It's the final block for 2015 - all that's left after this is to join the blocks and finish our blankets! Thank you all so much for CAL-ing with me this year! And Happy Thanksgiving!!
If you're late to the CAL, don't worry - you'll find links to all the previous posts for the CAL in the schedule below! The designers have promised they'll stay free forever, so you can catch up into 2016, 2017... whenever you like. Above is Kati's square, in 3 colors! Here's the one I made, using all 6 of my colors. Alas, with the busy holiday season, I didn't get a chance to block it before I photographed it, but it still looks great!
Now for my notes!
- To print this pattern or create a downloadable PDF, enter the pattern page URL into PrintFriendly.com.
- Be sure to read through the notes and special stitch instructions at the beginning of the pattern. There are lots of tutorial links that are very helpful!
- My square was coming out a little bit small, so I added a round of dc at the very end, and then it came out at 12". But everyone is different so be sure to measure as you go! Learn more about adjusting for size HERE. Remember that the 12″ is measured across and up and down – not diagonally corner to corner.
- I used Lion Brand Vanna's Choice, and my color order was as follows:
Square 1: Rnds 1-2: Mustard; Rnd 3: Raspberry; Rnd 4: Eggplant; Rnd 5: Aqua; Rnd 6: Eggplant; Rnd 7: Raspberry
Square 2: Rnds 1-2: Kelly Green; Rnd 3: Mustard; Rnd 4: Aqua; Rnd 5: Eggplant; Rnd 6: Aqua; Rnd 7: Raspberry
Square 3: Rnds 1-2: Aqua; Rnd 3: Kelly Green; Rnd 4: Mustard; Rnd 5: Raspberry; Rnd 6: Mustard; Rnd 7: Raspberry
Square 4: Rnds 1-2: Eggplant; Rnd 3: Aqua; Rnd 4: Kelly Green; Rnd 5: Mustard; Rnd 6: Kelly Green; Rnd 7: Raspberry
Joining the squares was done with Raspberry, and the edging (plus the extra round of dc) was done with White. - If this one isn't to your taste, you can find a list of alternatives HERE, and another, newer list of alternatives HERE!
Thanks so much for crocheting-along with me! I'll be sharing my finished blanket as soon as it's done!
Adrianna
Gahhh Tamara, I'm so excited!! I'm a couple blocks behind but I'll be done soon!! This was my first CAL ever and I had fun!! Since it is my first time I'm a little nervous about joining them all together!! Do you have any tips, I know you did a CAL last year do you have a link on any tips? 🙂
Again thank you and all the designers for this fun year, I learned many new techniques
Tamara Kelly
I'm so glad you enjoyed it Adrianna! I did talk about how I joined them last year (I haven't had a chance to yet this year!) - https://www.mooglyblog.com/finishing-2014-moogly-afghan-crochet-long/

Happy Thanksgiving ! whenever I click the link it doesn't work, says page cannot be displayed 🙁
Tamara Kelly
I'm sorry it's giving you trouble, it's working at this end. Maybe copying and pasting this? http://katidcreations.com/bullions-in-bloom/
Joan PEDERSEN
Was wondering about joining the blocks. Will there be instructions or do we come up with our own joining
Tamara Kelly
Joining and borders are up to you! Here is a joining collection I put together: https://www.mooglyblog.com/join-crochet-squares/
Meredith
I have finished! I used your poka dot border and a simulated braid for joining. I just couldn't get this last square to work for me, so I used an alternative. If I could make a suggestion for next year. Please have all the patterns able to be saved to pinterest. It is so much better to be able to save them all in one spot. Thanks for your work on this CAL. I really enjoyed the challenge of making squares that had so many different new stitches and techniques.
Tamara Kelly
Thank you Meredith! You can also always pin the Moogly posts on them - there's even a pinterest board for them!
Odalys
Hi Tamara, thank you for all the wonderful patterns this year. I've enjoyed the CAL very much. I just have one question regarding the border once all the squares are joined - where can I find the link to the border?
Tamara Kelly
Thank you Odalyls, I'm so glad you've enjoyed it! You can use whatever border you like, but personally I'll be using my Polka Dot Border. 🙂
Dana Rhyne
This has been the MOST fun! I totally plan to participate again next year - although perhaps I'll only make 2 blankets instead of 4. I have to join the squares & do the border on one, but two are completed & ready for their recipients. The 4th one is mine, & my yarn got discontinued (Bernat Alpaca), so I'm considering what to do with it. Thanks for hosting - can't wait to see your final product!
Tamara Kelly
Thank you Dana! I'm down to weaving in the ends now.... 😀
