This pattern includes some tall post stitches - all of which are defined for you right in the pattern. Be sure to read all the notes before you begin! Once you get the hang of it, it gets pretty easy. If you have trouble finding the "next" stitch when working into the crossed post stitches, a good tip is to follow the "Vs" at the top of the stitches. I also recommend using a pen to keep a little tally as you make each row, particularly if you are changing colors, so you can keep track of where you are in the pattern.

While this pattern is mostly made in rows, there are two edging rounds at the end that will allow you to make any alterations needed for size. I got to 12" after the first Edging Round, so I just stopped there. But everyone's gauge and tension level are different so be sure to measure as you go, and check your gauge. Learn how to adjust for size HERE to make sure all your squares are the same size. Remember that the 12″ is measured across and up and down – not diagonally corner to corner.
I used a Furls US-J, 6.0 mm hook and Red Heart With Love, and my color scheme was as follows – Rows 1-7: Iced Aqua; Rows 8-14: Lettuce; Rows 15-21: Tigerlily; Rows 22-28: Holly Berry; Rows 29-35: Hot Pink; Edging Rnd 1: Fruit Punch; Rnd 2 - omitted for size.
This square benefited from a mild blocking. To block this square, I used the wet blocking method and a Chetnanigans BlocksAll Ultra blocking board and Perfecting Strips.
