Above is the original made in 3 colors! Below, you can see my version, made with my 6 colors!

This pattern uses only double crochets and chains. So if you are making it in one color and want to add some texture, try working in the back loop only! I did cheat a little bit when making my own square, and turned and worked back the other direction for Rows 6 and 8.

While this pattern is mostly made in rows, there ae two rounds at the end that will allow you to make any alterations needed for size. I got to 12" after Round 12, so I just skipped Round 13. But everyone's gauge and tension level are different so be sure to measure as you go, and check your gauge. Learn how to adjust for size HERE to make sure all your squares are the same size. Remember that the 12″ is measured across and up and down – not diagonally corner to corner.
I used a Furls US-J, 6.0 mm hook and Red Heart With Love, and my color scheme was as follows – Rnd 1: Hot Pink; Rnd 2: Holly Berry; Rnd 3 and 4: Lettuce; Row 5 and 6: Tigerlily; Row 7 and 8: Iced Aqua; Row 9: Hot Pink; Row 10: Holly Berry; Row 11: Lettuce; Rnd 12: Fruit Punch; Rnd 13 - omitted for size.
This square benefited from a moderate blocking. To block this square, I used the wet blocking method and a Chetnanigans BlocksAll Ultra blocking board and Perfecting Strips.
