Above, you can see the square that Marie made in 4 colors of Brava Worsted! Below is my CAL square, in my 6 colors of Brava Worsted - Custard, Seashell, Fig, Denim, Espresso, and Cream!
Details for MooglyCAL2026 Block 15
My Notes: The Clematis Flower Granny Square is such a lovely floral piece with 3D touches that add tons of interest! Simple but colorful stitches frame a 6-petal flower, for an eye-catching result. You can change colors however you like - every one of these is going to be unique! I do recommend using stitch markers to help you keep track of each row. I also recommend moving around to different corners starting in Rnd 10. This pattern is easy to adjust for size, which is a good thing, as I had to skip a few rounds with my own gauge! See more on that in the sizing notes below.
Helpful Links and Tutorials: Crochet Abbreviations, working in the 3rd loop, standing double crochet, standing single crochet, Tr - Treble Crochet, Back Loop Only, and seamless join.
Sizing: My square was already at 11 inches after Rnd 15, so I skipped the rest of the rnds and finished up with a round of hdc worked in the back loop only. That got me right to 12". As you can see, everyone's gauge is different, so be sure to measure as you go! Learn how to adjust for size HERE to ensure all your squares are the same size. Remember that the 12″ is measured across and up and down, not diagonally/corner to corner.
Yarn Options: This year, our designers have chosen from a variety of yarns, including Brava Worsted, Swish Worsted, Jimmy Beans Wool Beanstalk, Berroco Vintage, and MadTosh Vintage. For this square, Marie and I used Brava Worsted!
What I Did:
I used a US-J, 6.0 mm crochet hook, and Brava Worsted yarn, and my color scheme was as follows (see pics for more info on placement):
Rnds 1 and 2: Cream
Rnd 3 and 4: Custard
Rnds 5 and 6: Seashell
Rnds 7 - 9: Fig
Rnd 10: Denim
Rnd 11: Espresso
Rnd 12: Denim
Rnd 13: Custard
Rnd 14: Denim
Rnd 15: Espresso
Last Rnd: BLO hdc, Cream
This square needed a bit of blocking, so I used wet blocking followed by some light steaming.
