Above, you can see the square that Olena made in 3 colors of Brava Worsted! Below is my CAL square, in my 6 colors of Brava Worsted - Custard, Seashell, Fig, Denim, Espresso, and Cream!
Details for MooglyCAL2026 Block 14
My Notes: This square is a fun and relaxing make, with a nice variety of stitches to keep it interesting. The pattern is well written and easy to follow, and the last few rounds make it super easy to adjust for size! It's just a great square to make - no sugarcoating needed!
Helpful Links and Tutorials: Crochet Abbreviations, Post Stitches, Dc2tog, CSDC, standing double crochet, Standing hdc, Standing sc, and seamless join.
Sizing: My square was coming out a bit big, so I worked the last round as hdc instead of dc, and that did the trick! Everyone's gauge is different, so be sure to measure as you go! Learn how to adjust for size HERE to ensure all your squares are the same size. Remember that the 12″ is measured across and up and down, not diagonally/corner to corner.
Yarn Options: This year, our designers have chosen from a variety of yarns, including Brava Worsted, Swish Worsted, Jimmy Beans Wool Beanstalk, Berroco Vintage, and MadTosh Vintage. For this square, Olena and I used Brava Worsted!
What I Did:
I used a US-J, 6.0 mm crochet hook, and Brava Worsted yarn, and my color scheme was as follows (see pics for more info on placement):
Rnds 1 and 2: Seashell
Rnd 3 and 4: Custard
Rnd 5: Fig
Rnd 6: Denim
Rnd 7: Espresso
Rnd 8: Seashell
Rnd 9: Custard
Rnd 10: Fig
Rnd 11: Denim
Rnd 12: Espresso
Rnd 13: Cream
This square needed just a bit of blocking, so I used wet blocking.
