Above are the originals, made with 4 colors of With Love. Below is my version, made in my 4 colors of With Love!
My Notes: This block is simple to make, but it's so fun to watch it come together! As always, be sure to read through the notes and special stitches before you begin.
I did make a couple small changes. I hate weaving in a ton of ends, so I did not cut the yarn after every round as directed. Instead, I carried the yarn along the back of the square. To do so, I would slip stitch into the corner ch sp with the next color, and then ch 1 work into that corner as directed, working over all the unused colors in that first sc of the round.
The other small change was that I worked a (sc, ch 2, sc) for the corners of the last round, rather than 3 sc - it just works better for my preferred joining method.
Helpful Links and Tutorials: Crochet Abbreviations; Magic Circle; Front Loop and Back Loop Only; seamless finishing.
Sizing: My square was the right size as written - and this pattern includes lots of check points to help you as you go. But remember, everyone's gauge and tension level are different so be sure to measure as you go. Learn how to adjust for size HERE to make sure all your squares are the same size. Remember that the 12″ is measured across and up and down – not diagonally corner to corner.
What I Did: I used a Furls US-J, 6.0 mm hook and Red Heart With Love, and my color scheme was as follows:
Color A: Lilac
Color B: Light Gray
Color C: Aubergine
Color D: White
This square benefited from a light blocking. To block this square, I used the wet blocking method and a Chetnanigans BlocksAll Ultra blocking board and Perfecting Strips.
