Block #8:
Waves and Stripes Square
by Hooked for Life
Above is the original, made in 3 colors of With Love. Below is my version, made in my 4 colors of With Love!
The Details
My Notes: This block features a lovely crossed stitches and shells stitch pattern in the middle, and simple rounds around the outside. If you're using only one color, you can add additional texture by working the Border Rounds in the back loop only!
Helpful Links and Tutorials: Crochet Abbreviations; Chainless Starting Double Crochet; Back Loop Only; Invisible Finishing.
Sizing: My square reached 12" exactly as written.
But remember, everyone's gauge and tension level are different so be sure to measure as you go. Learn how to adjust for size HERE to make sure all your squares are the same size. Remember that the 12″ is measured across and up and down – not diagonally corner to corner.
What I Did: I used a Furls US-J, 6.0 mm hook and Red Heart With Love, and my color scheme was as follows:
Row 1 - 2: Aubergine
Row 3 - 4: Lilac
Row 5 - 6: White
Row 7 - 8: Aubergine
Row 9 - 10: Lilac
Row 11 - 12: White
Center Edging: Lilac
Border Rnd 1: Lilac
Border Rnd 2: White
Border Rnd 3: Aubergine
Border Rnd 4: Light Grey
Outer Edging: Light Grey
This square benefited from a very mild blocking. To block this square, I used the wet blocking method and a Chetnanigans BlocksAll Ultra blocking board and Perfecting Strips.
