Block #13:
Lime Sherbert Square
by Underground Crafter
Above is the original, made in 3 colors of With Love. Below is my version, made in my 4 colors of With Love!
The Details
My Notes: This block is made of 4 smaller squares - pay close attention to when to cut the yarn and when not to! (But if you make the same mistake I did and cut it, you can still connect them - you'll just have an extra end or two to weave in.)
Helpful Links and Tutorials: Crochet Abbreviations; Magic Circle; Chainless Starting Double Crochet; BL - Back Loop Only; Slip Stitch Seaming.
Sizing: My square was coming out a bit big. So for the border I simply did 2 rnds of single crochet. (Working hdc into the corner ch sps of the first border rnd.)
But remember, everyone's gauge and tension level are different so be sure to measure as you go. Learn how to adjust for size HERE to make sure all your squares are the same size. Remember that the 12″ is measured across and up and down – not diagonally corner to corner.
What I Did: I used a Furls US-J, 6.0 mm hook and Red Heart With Love, and my color scheme was as follows:
Squares 1 and 2: Lilac and Aubergine
Squares 3 and 4: Aubergine and Lilac
Edging Rnd 1: White
Edging Rnd 2: Light Gray
This square benefited from a strong blocking. To block this square, I used the wet blocking method and a Chetnanigans BlocksAll Ultra blocking board and Perfecting Strips. You may also want to steam this one if needed - but do not touch the iron to the yarn, just hover an inch or so above.
