I’m in love with Block #15 in the MooglyCAL2019, courtesy of Red Heart National Spokesperson, Marly Bird! This square is relatively simple to crochet – but the effect is mesmerizing!

Chic Modern Mosaic Diamond Square
by Marly Bird
Above is the original made in 2 colors! Below, you can see my version, made with my 4 colors!
My Notes: This pattern is so much fun to crochet, and the technique is surprisingly simple! The mix of stitches will provide an interesting touch of texture for those working in just one color, and the possibilities in multiple colors are endless!
Sizing: When making my square, it was coming out a bit large, so I switched to a different style of hook that I know tends to make my gauge a bit smaller, and that worked perfectly! Remember, everyone’s gauge and tension level are different so be sure to measure as you go. Learn how to adjust for size HERE to make sure all your squares are the same size. Remember that the 12″ is measured across and up and down – not diagonally corner to corner.
What I Did: I used a Clover Amour US-J, 6.0 mm hook and Red Heart With Love, and my color scheme was as follows: Color A/Border: White; Color B Rows 1-14: Navy; Color B Rows 17-30: True Blue; Color B Rows 33-46: Bluebell.
