Work from Home Cardigan - or At the Office!
A big thank you to reader and friend, Jennifer Leclaire, for coming up with the name! Naming crochet patterns can be the hardest part, and her idea was fab! (Although, ironically, most of it was crocheted while traveling!

When designing the Work From Home Cardigan, I wanted to design a lightweight but warm and oversized piece that you could throw on at your desk when things get chilly. The arms are left free for typing and working, and the length won't get caught up in your office chair or tangled up with other garments.
It's also great for cooking, teaching, or as a warm topper for everything from tees to turtlenecks! Here I am modeling it in my backyard!
@mooglyblog Sneak peek! The Work From Home Cardigan crochet pattern is coming to Moogly soon! Went too long and need to remove some rows without frogging the whole thing? Click here for a tutorial for removing the first rows from a crochet piece!

I'm starting the work from home cardi and I'm using 3 different luxury yarns. Is it best to carry the strands up the sides or tie off and tie back on?
Tamara Kelly says
Personally I like carrying up the sides and then covering it with the border/edging. 🙂
Donna Gross says
Thanks Tamara that's what I started doing. I finished the back last night and I'll be starting the front panels today. I'm hoping I have enough yarn. I'm using 2 hanks each of 3 different colors of 2 different yarns. All are merino wool but 4 of the 6 hanks contain Cashmere. The other is 2 hanks of malabrigo rios in pearl. If I need more I guess I can buy another hank of that but the other 4 are too expensive to buy more of. Wish me luck.
Tamara Kelly says
Sounds gorgeous!! Good luck! ♥

I also decided to make a slight modification to the front. Instead of doing the double v stitch as shown, I did one dc in each of the 2 stitches then crossed over to put the 2nd dc into the the first dc and the 2nd into the 2nd dc. It gives it a little extra texture. I wish I had thought of it from the beginning.

Are there any other yarns that may be used? Trying to use up my stash. Thanks!
Tamara Kelly says
The featured yarn is a 4 – Medium; 100% acrylic so I think there are lots of possibilities!

What if I want to add just a little lenght to the arms? Would you suggest 1) adding a 2-3 row pattern from the body, or 2) extra sleeve edging rows, or 3) another option, or 4) no good option to add extra length to sleeves? Thank you. Love the design. Looks like it will work up fast enough to stay out of my WIP basket because I ran out of time to complete before projects with a deadline..
Tamara Kelly says
Thank you! I would recommend working in the Row 2-3 reps until you have the length desired, and then using the last couple of rounds of the sleeve for the cuff. 🙂

I have a Granddaughter that recently requested (and I made ) a hexi granny stitch cardian. She found the pattern on Pintrest but I don't have the specific info. I have some of the Caron Simply Soft left over that i thought I might make her a Work From Home cardigan. She's in 7th grade so not actually s "work from home" size yet! Do you have measurements for your sizes or can you give me places in the pattern to make measurements for her fit? The Hexi cardigan was actually shorted than she wanted so I had to do some adjusting with that according to her measurements. I think I can do the same if I know the measurements you used/finished with.
I hope that makes sense and isn't too much trouble.
Thanks.
Tamara Kelly says
So sweet! You'll find the actual measurements above, in the Schematic. The pattern uses a multiple of 4, plus 6. So assuming she wears a Youth XL, you'd want to aim for about 26" across the back, splitting to make the front pieces when you've reached the length you'd like it to be.
