The Atom Square

Above you can see the square that Olena made, featuring 2 colors. Below is my CAL square, in my 3 colors! (I'm doing a stash buster, so these colors will change throughout the year. This is my second Evergreen one as I work through the rainbow!)
Details for MooglyCAL2024 Block 14
My Notes: The Atom Square bursts with rings of color and texture, bringing your blanket vision to life! Bobbles and lots of color changes hold the attention, and the well written instructions make it easy to recreate. I will say that Rnd 7 might have you scratching your head and second-guessing the instructions - trust them! It does work! My square was a little bit small, but one extra round of half double crochet got me to 12".
Helpful Links and Tutorials: Magic Circle, Bobble, Chainless Starting Double Crochet, Standing Double Crochet, Standing Single Crochet, Standing Half Double Crochet, and seamless join.
Sizing: My square was only at 11", so I added an extra rnd, repeating Rnd 14. But everyone's gauge is different so be sure to measure as you go! Learn how to adjust for size HERE to make sure all your squares are the same size. Remember that the 12″ is measured across and up and down – not diagonally corner to corner.
What I Did:
I used a Susan Bates US-J, 6.0 mm Twist and Lock hook, and Red Heart With Love, and my color scheme was as follows (see pics for more info on placement):

Rnd 2: Light Gray
Rnd 3: Evergreen
Rnd 4: White
Rnd 5: Light Gray
Rnd 6: Evergreen
Rnd 7: White
Rnd 8: Light Gray
Rnd 9: Evergreen
Rnd 10 and 11: White
Rnd 12: Light Gray
Rnd 13: Evergreen
Rnd 14: White
Extra Rnd for Size: White
This square required a mild blocking. I used the wet blocking method.
