Block #3:

Floral Berry Square

Above you can see the square that she made, featuring 5 colors. Below is my CAL square, in my 3 colors! (I'm doing a stash buster, so these colors will change throughout the year. This is my last red one as I work through the rainbow!)

The Details for Square #3

My Notes: Pretty, entertaining, textured, and educational - all describe Carolyn's latest block design! The Floral Berry Square features a great mix of stitches and stitch patterns, with lots of built-in color changes. Delightfully, this combo of textures also makes it great in all one shade. The pattern itself is easy to follow and crochet, but it does take time - I spent 3 evenings on this one! The pictures are super helpful, so just be patient with this one.

Helpful Links and Tutorials: This square is made of lots of stitches, many of which may be new to some crocheters! These tutorials may help: 3rd-BLO, BPsc, Ssc - Standing Single Crochet, Shdc - Standing Half Double Crochet, Sdc - Standing Double Crochet, and Bst - Berry Stitch (aka the Picot Single Crochet Stitch). You can also optionally use the Magic Circle and Seamless Finishing if desired.

Sizing: My square got to 12" as written. But everyone's gauge is different so be sure to measure as you go! Learn how to adjust for size HERE to make sure all your squares are the same size. Remember that the 12″ is measured across and up and down – not diagonally corner to corner.

What I Did:

I used a Susan Bates US-J, 6.0 mm Twist and Lock hook, and Red Heart With Love, and my color scheme was as follows (see pics for more info on placement):

This square required a mild blocking. I used the wet blocking method.
