Do these guys look familiar?
The Sea Friends Mobile features 4 characters you may have seen here on Moogly before – the Octopus Squish, Narwhal (or Whale) Squish, the Squid Squish, and the Jellyfish Squish! I’ve adapted and altered these patterns to create a matching mobile. If you need more assembly images for any of the pieces, please reference their original patterns.
This Under the Sea-themed nursery is coming right along! With shapes, tentacles, and a variety of buttons, baby will get a stimulating view from the bed too!
Made with Bernat Softee Baby
Bernat Softee Baby is a lovely and soft 100% acrylic yarn. It comes in a great range of colors and is OEKO-TEX® certified, which means it has been tested for over 300 harmful substances. It’s a 3-Light weight, making it perfect for all sorts of baby projects as well as lightweight garments and accessories! For this pattern, you can make each of the sea friends in colors to match your nursery theme.
And Bernat Softee Baby is also a great choice for the Sea Friends Mobile because it is…
Designed to Grow with Baby
The lifetime of a crib mobile is relatively short. Sure, you can hang it up in a corner for a bit, but past toddlerhood they are off to the memories bin or yard sale table. The Sea Friends Mobile is different!
I’ve designed these softies to snip right back off the mobile when it’s time is done – and then you’ll have four cute and cuddly travel-sized crochet softies for them to love and squish! Just remember to wait until they’re 3 years old due to the possibility of a choking hazard from the small bits.

Sea Friends Mobile Assembly Tutorial
NOTES:
Rnds in the top and bottom are worked in a spiral. Do not ch 1 or sl st unless directed in pattern.
Move a stitch marker along the first st of each rnd as you work to keep track of your progress.
To create an optimally balanced mobile, use a kitchen scale to weigh the pieces for each animal prior to stuffing and assembling them. Use these weights to help you determine how many buttons to add to the underbelly or if you need to add a bit more stuffing. The goal is to create two sets of 2 stuffies that weigh about the same. Tip: Use extra buttons (buried in the center of the stuffing) in the Narwhal for more weight!
