It's October! There's a chill in the air, ghosts and ghouls are popping up all over, and scariest of all, there are just a few more blocks left in this CAL! This is the month I hope to get together both the joining methods and start putting some ideas in place for next year. While throwing two birthday parties and working on a super secret project and everything else. Talk about scary! But if this is the first you've heard of the 2014 Moogly Afghan Crochet-a-Long, then start HERE to read how it works - if you crochet fast, there's still time to join in!
Need to catch up? Here is the CAL schedule, with links to the previous blocks (click on the date to go to that blog post):

BLOCK #20: Cocoa Puff
by Melissa Green
(Click the name of the pattern above to go to the Ravelry page for this pattern.)

Above is the original, made with 2 colors. Bold and graphic, yet floral at the same time! It reminds me of autumn flowers, and echoes portions of several previous patterns. Below is mine, made with 4 colors:
Now for my notes!
- Moogly tutorial that might help you: Treble Crochet; Skipping Stitches
- The pattern itself is well written, and I found no errors! I did make a note on the Note at Round 4, that it's the tr sts that are worked in front, specifically.
- And as always, be sure to measure your work as you go! After Round 11 I was only at 10.75"", so I worked Round 12 as written *except* I used dc sts instead of hdc sts. And that did the trick!
- My color pattern was as follows: Round 1-3 Blue; Round 4-5 White; Round 6-8 Red; Round 9-10 Green; Round 11-12 Blue.
- If you need more help with this pattern, there's a fab tutorial from my friend Dedri at Look At What I Made HERE! Her color sense is amazing!

Nice pick! This is a neat pattern. The floral theme is pretty, but it also looks like it works up chunky and warm and inviting. Added to my project list!

😀 I'm glad you like it Annie!

It looks to me like the Sm Shell is the same as the V-stitch, am I right?
Tamara Kelly
Yes! 🙂 Though there are several sts that get called the V st, this is the most common version.

Well, tried to print the beautiful Cocoa Puff from ravelry and as usual won't print. There are no words to describe how much I dislike this Ravelry site. Nothing should be this difficult. I would love to have this pattern but the frustration of dealing with this horrible sight just isn't worth it. If it is possible to get the instructions from somewhere else I would love to have it--otherwise I guess I will go without the pattern. The chocolate and cream combination is beautiful. I love Moogly, but not when I have to go to the ravelry site. Sorry for the rant-just upsets me so much. Nancy

I "copy" the pattern in Word and then save it as PDF so all the blocks are in one place. To copy - highlight the entire pattern and paste it to a new Word document, When you save it, the SAve as type click the down arrow and choose .pdf unless you want to save it as a word document. Good luck!

Just wondering...when the CAL is complete, would you be able to create a link so that all of the blocks would print out at one time? I have only recently come across this and I love the blocks that you are sharing. However, I do not have the time to start on this now. It would be so much easier if at the end we could be able to print all the blocks together. Thanks for your consideration of this request.

Hi Beth! I wish I could but since they aren't my patterns, that would be a copyright violation (or 24 of them!).
Beth
I totally understand. No harm in asking!

I love this pattern! Can't wait to start it! I have a dark brown and fall color variegated that will, I think look great!
Tamara Kelly

I am so excited, I'm almost caught up! I am doing two of each pattern so it will cover the top of our bed. Tonight I finished my 1st #20!! I got it done in less than 2 hours, which means tomorrow night I should get my second done and for the first time since January I will be 100% caught up! Woohoo! This CAL has been so wonderful, I have had so much fun. Thank you so much for hosting this!

😀 I'm so glad to hear it Jackie! Thank you so much for participating!
