And on to #14! I don't know if anyone is even reading these intros lol - I know we're all eager to get to the next square! But if this is the first you've heard of the 2014 Moogly Afghan Crochet-a-Long, then don't worry, there's still time to catch up - just start HERE to read how it works! Everybody else, let's get started!
Need to catch up? Here is the CAL schedule, with links to the previous blocks (click on the date to go to that blog post):

BLOCK #14: Starfire by Melinda Miller
(Click the name of the pattern above to go to the Ravelry link for this pattern)

Above is the original, made with 4 colors. And here's the one I made, using my 4 colors (unblocked):
- Be sure to read the designer's Special Stitches descriptions and Changing Colors notes - important stuff!
- If you are unfamiliar with Bobble Stitches, watch the Moogly video tutorial HERE before you begin this pattern - but do note that her bobble includes only 3 dc, not 5 as in the video.
- The pattern itself is so well written, I didn't take any notes while making it at all! Great beginner pattern! I even ended up at exactly 12".
- My color changes were as written in the pattern: Round 1-2 Blue; Round 3 Red; Round 4 - 5 White; Round 6-7 Green; Round 8-10 Red; and Round 11 Blue.

Just wondering if this square could redesigned to suit a 6" square style.

Perhaps with a much thinner yarn?

I'm really happy to have come this far along with everyone else in this CAL. BUT I'm also sad that now there's only 10 of the squares left...
Pam
I'm just starting!! OMG!! I'm so far behind.....deciding on colors!! I'm so excited to join!

Yay! Welcome aboard! 😀 There's lots and lots of help at the Ravelry group on the tougher ones - this one is easy though! 😀

Me too...I am starting to think i would like the whole thing in a monochromatic color...actually leaning toward white cotton.
Diane
I read every blog you put out Tamara! I haven't started this CAL yet but have my colors and yarn ready to go. Will be crocheting catch up but love seeing all the color varieties that others use. Tamara, though you have used your 3/4 color choice in your CAL will it mess up the look if I just choose a single color now and then to mix things up?
Tamara Kelly
Hi Diane, and thank you! 😀 I think it'll look great if you have some solid color squares! 😀

I read them all! I've gotten behind in the CAL, but hope to catch up soon! Loving all the squares! Can't wait to see it finished!

I love this square too. I love them all actually. I do the new square the first week when it comes out and the next "off" Thursday I do a second one so I am making two afghans at the same time. lots of fun. Thanks, Tamara. I love your site. I have learned sooo much! Judi
