I'm excited and honored to share that for the second year in a row, I get to share the Warm Up America! Hats, Scarves, and Mittens Drive here on Moogly!
And now it's finished (for now - keep donating!) - and here is the result!
Warm Up America! received 1,446 winter items for our Moogly and Knit Picks Campaign! This number includes the adult & child hats, scarves, mittens, and headbands they received. They also received many other items that people sent in and put Moogly in the campaign! That is a HUGE number! Thank you all so so so much for sharing your time, yarn, and talents - and sharing the love and warmth this winter! I'll be sure to keep you updated with more opportunities to help in the future!

Warm Up America! is an amazing nonprofit, most known for its afghan drives. But they are just as committed to providing clothing for people in need. This fall, they have once again asked us to help them get out the word about their Hat, Scarf & Mittens Campaign - and of course we said yes! Read on to see how you can help spread the warmth this winter!

What Is Warm Up America!?
"The Warm Up America! foundation, a 501C3 nonprofit, was founded in 1991 by Evie Rosen. It is committed to motivating, training and coordinating volunteers to knit and crochet afghans and clothing for people in need. To this end, the foundation:
- Promotes, trains and encourages individual volunteers and groups to adopt the WUA! program as a local activity.
- Supports and assists these local volunteers by providing information and instructional materials through its website and newsletters.
- Acts as a collection point for sections, oversees assembly into completed blankets and ships items to various charitable organizations and agencies for distribution to the homeless and persons in need. "
What They Are Looking For
The sections get a lot of press, but this drive focuses on wearables - so needed in the coming months! So we're working on them to help get the word out. I've designed a whole new set of crochet patterns for this drive, that are all free here on Moogly - the Olivewood Hat, Olivewood Scarf, and Olivewood Mittens! I used Brava Stripe Worsted from WeCrochet in the Trailhead colorway, which I really enjoyed crocheting with.

And Knit Picks has more sets to choose from, including knit options! CLICK HERE to check them out!

Of course, you can make any hat, scarf, and mittens patterns you like - and I've got some more great free crochet patterns linked for you below. But here are all the important details!

I have 12 knit hats that I use a cable to knit in the traditional
way. I do not croquet. Can you use these hats ?
Tamara Kelly says
