The Details
My Notes: Marie has written a beautiful square pattern for us, with a lovely variety of stitches and textures! The pattern is easy and relaxing to follow, center out, and pretty solid.
Helpful Links and Tutorials: Magic Circle, Bobbles, Standing Single Crochet, BLO (Back Loop Only), Chainless Starting Double Crochet, and Seamless Finishing.
Sizing: I have a bigger gauge than Marie, so I got to 12" after Rnd 16 (which I, therefore, chose to work from the RS). But everyone's gauge is different so be sure to measure as you go! Learn how to adjust for size HERE to make sure all your squares are the same size. Remember that the 12″ is measured across and up and down – not diagonally corner to corner.
What I Did: I used a Susan Bates US-J, 6.0 mm Twist and Lock hook, and Red Heart With Love, and my color scheme was as follows (see pics for more info on placement):
Rnd 1 - 3: Light Gray
Rnd 4 and 5: Pewter
Rnd 6: White
Rnd 7 and 8: Light Gray
Rnd 9: Pewter
Rnd 10 and 11: White
Rnd 12 - 14: Light Gray
Rnd 15: Pewter
Rnd 16: White
Remainder of Rnds skipped for size.
This square required moderate blocking. I used the wet blocking method, or you could use light steam.
