Golden Braid Square

The Details

My Notes: Kelly is a newer designer that I had the pleasure to meet at the Crochet Guild of America conference in 2022. I was impressed with his cable work, and I'm excited he decided to show it off in his square for the crochet along! There's a video tutorial to help and the pattern is really well written. As always, be sure to read all the Notes before you begin - there's a lot of super-important info there!

Sizing: My square was coming out a bit small, so I did an extra single crochet Border Rnd in White.  But everyone's gauge is different so be sure to measure as you go! Learn how to adjust for size HERE to make sure all your squares are the same size. Remember that the 12″ is measured across and up and down – not diagonally corner to corner.

What I Did: I used a Susan Bates US-J, 6.0 mm Twist and Lock hook, and Red Heart With Love, and my color scheme was as follows (see pics for more info on placement):

Setup and Row 1: Light Gray
Rows 2 - 32: Light Gray and Pewter; CC: White
Row 33: Pewter
Border: Light Gray and Pewter
Extra Border Rnd: White

This square required mild blocking. I used the wet blocking method, or you could use light steam.
