Block #12:

Shapeshifter Square

Above you can see the square that she made, featuring 4 colors - and just one color! Below is my CAL square, in my 3 colors!

The Details

My Notes: Pia has created a wonderful design, full of color, texture, and sure to hold your interest! There's a video tutorial to help and lots of great pictures, as well as a chart. She has rated this one as intermediate, but with the videos and photos, a determined beginner can definitely make this one.

Helpful Links and Tutorials: Magic Circle, Post Stitches, Standing Post Stitches, Chainless Starting Double Crochet, Treble Crochet, Double Treble Crochet, Standing Single Crochet, and Seamless Finishing.

Sizing: My square was coming out a bit small, so I worked Rnd 14 in double crochet instead of single crochet, working (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) at the corners.  But everyone's gauge is different so be sure to measure as you go! Learn how to adjust for size HERE to make sure all your squares are the same size. Remember that the 12″ is measured across and up and down – not diagonally corner to corner.

What I Did: I used a Susan Bates US-J, 6.0 mm Twist and Lock hook, and Red Heart With Love, and my color scheme was as follows (see pics for more info on placement):

Rnd 1 and 2: White
Rnd 3 - 6: Light Gray
Rnd 7 - 10: Pewter
Rnd 11 - 14: White

This square required mild blocking. I used the wet blocking method, or you could use light steam.
