Tada! Welcome to the post for Block #14! My daughter is 14 this summer, and this block makes me think of her - entertaining, pretty, fun, and clever!
For those that are new to the Moogly Afghan CALs, here's how it works!
- No need to sign up/officially join - just jump in and start crocheting! If you come in late, you can start where we are and catch up with missed blocks as we go!
- A new block crochet pattern will be shared here on Moogly every 2 weeks, on Thursdays at 10am CST (the last one will be one day early due to American Thanksgiving). There is a schedule below, and the links will be added throughout the year. These will stay free online forever.
- I will link to the designer's pattern below, share a photo of my version of their block, and give any helpful notes that are appropriate.
- Each 12" square will be designed in worsted/aran weight yarn, with a 5.5mm hook. If you choose a different yarn weight/hook size, your blocks will be a different size, but as long as you are consistent, then the blocks should be too! For example, with DK weight yarn, you should get blocks that are about 10" in size.
- French translation PDFs will also be provided on each designer's site, courtesy of Véronique HoRaive! Merci Véronique!
- There is a Ravelry group for the CAL HERE, and a Facebook group HERE - all full of help and camaraderie! Thank you to all of the amazing volunteer moderators!

Block #14: Wishing Well 12" Square by Dedri Uys of Look at What I Made: CLICK HERE to go to the pattern page but first, read my notes below!
Above is Dedri's square, in 5 colors! Here's the one I made, using all 6 of my colors:
Now for my notes!
- To print this pattern or create a downloadable PDF, go to PrintFriendly.com and enter the URL there.
- This pattern was so much fun to make! Almost every round is different and interesting, and I love the way it all comes together! There are helpful photos and notes too!
- My square was coming out just a little bit big, so I dropped the last round from dc to hdc - that brought me to 12". But everyone is different so be sure to measure as you go! Learn more about adjusting for size HERE. Remember that the 12″ is measured across and up and down – not diagonally corner to corner.
- I used Lion Brand Vanna's Choice, and I followed the color scheme through Rnd 14 with Color A - Pearl Mist; Color B - Tangerine Mist; Color C - Denim Mist; Color D - Seaspray Mist; and Color E - Rose Mist. For Rnd 15 I used Purple Mist, and Rnd 16 I used Pearl Mist.
- If this one isn't to your taste, you can find a list of alternatives HERE!
Thanks so much for crocheting-along with me!
Amalia
I think I'm going to begin this CAL...
I follow Dedri's works allways I can.

I haven't made these yet as involved in another project but love all the different block designs. Will start on them this fall

i'm so glad to hear it marilyn!

I am a beginner crocheter. I would like to see a CAL for a beginner that starts with basic stitches and teaches as you crochet a new block every few weeks. It would also be helpful to have a master supply list of colors and quantities of yarn to make the complete project.

hi carol! sorry, my shift key is broken, so it's a little extra casual today.
i think that's a great idea! thank you! i'll have to ponder how best to do it, but i really like this idea.
Carol Biles
Thanks so much. I will look forward to it!

This square got me all caught up lol! I did end up having to switch to a smaller hook and use hdc the last 4 rounds in order to get 12". I loved this square and I am thoroughly enjoying this CAL!
Tamara Kelly
I'm so glad to hear it Lisa! 😀

I CANT SEEM TO LINK TO THIS SQUARE. IS THE LINK BROKEN OR THE SITE DOWN?
Tamara Kelly
The link does seem to be working for me, but it did take a few minutes to load all the way. Here's the link again, in case it works better for you: http://www.lookatwhatimade.net/crafts/yarn/crochet/free-crochet-patterns/wishing-well-12-crochet-square/
