    A Bit About the Authors

    Lee Sartori

Right inside the book, we discover that Lee is the primary author - every crocheter should know Lee!

"Lee Sartori is the crochet designer behind CoCo Crochet Lee. Lee’s passion is designing modern, wearable garments, and adorable amigurumi. Lee lives in Halifax, Canada with her two children Noël and Conan, her amazing husband Sean, her adorable bunny Neville, and two cats Ginny, and Toast. You can find her work on her blog and on social media, where she posts fun, and whimsical takes on crochet. " And I've linked a bunch of her other books below!

And we discover on the same page that there is "additional text by Nadia Oxford" - who is the Minecraft expert!

"Nadia E. Oxford has been writing in, about, and for the games industry since 2004, which is the journalistic equivalent of being raised by wolves. She currently roams around in her half-feral state, consulting on games, localizing scripts, and publishing books to keep body and soul together."

    Table of Contents

While I've only tried to play Minecraft once myself, I have three kids (who aren't really kids anymore) who have been playing it for years - and still do as adults! Just this month my 20-year-old son sat down to teach my 6-year-old niece how to play - and she got the hang of it a lot faster than I did! So while I'm not an expert Minecrafter, I can recognize most of what's in this book.

There are 20 total patterns in Minecraft: The Official Crochet Book, with sections on Home Decor, Amigurumi, and Wearables, plus an additional section on how to further customize 5 previous patterns. But there are hundreds if not thousands of ways to make them your own, and some patterns that might even fly under the radar, so only other Minecraft fans will "get it!"

Lee uses motifs and "blocky" stitch patterns to give everything that pixelated look that Minecraft is known for - the waffle stitch, corner-to-corner, and granny squares all make an appearance in here. You'll also get to try techniques like fair isle, tapestry, and Tunisian!

This is a thick, hardcover book that doesn't mess around with a "learn to crochet" section, jumping right into the patterns themselves.

The patterns are written in standard US format for each technique, and the amigurumi patterns are mostly written out fully, rather than abbreviated as some stuffy patterns are in recent books.

The patterns in Minecraft: The Official Crochet Book are adorable, fun, and clever - I particularly love the Sleeping Fox Pillow and Flower Cardigan. My kids would've had a blast with the Diamond Swords... and I'm excited to see what characters get my niece excited to so I can surprise her! If you are or know a Minecraft fan, this book is definitely a must-have!
