Block #6:
Guiding Light Afghan Square
by Oombawka Design
Above is the original, made with 4 colors of With Love. Below is my version, made in my 4 colors of With Love!
The Details
My Notes: This square is fun and relaxing to crochet – simple, but interesting! The key is knowing back loop only vs front loop only – and I’ve linked a video tutorial below!
Helpful Links and Tutorials:Â Crochet Abbreviations; Magic Circle; Join with Sc/Standing Sc; Front Loop Only/Back Loop Only;Â Seamless Finishing.
Sizing: My square came out just to size as written. But everyone’s gauge and tension level are different so be sure to measure as you go. Learn how to adjust for size HERE to make sure all your squares are the same size. Remember that the 12″ is measured across and up and down – not diagonally corner to corner.
What I Did: I used a Furls US-J, 6.0 mm hook, and Red Heart With Love, and my color scheme was as follows:
Color A:Â Celtic
Color B: Lettuce
Color C: Eggshell
Color D: Tangerine
This square didn’t require blocking in my experience! But if it did, I would use the wet blocking method, or you could use light steam.
