(see below for Part 3 video tutorial)

    Crochet Abbreviations

    Magic Circle

CSDC - Chainless Starting Double Crochet

    Dc - Double Crochet

    STDC - Standing Double Crochet

    Ch - Chain

    Sl st - Slip Stitch

    Fp - Front Post Stitches

    Tr - Treble Crochet

STHDC - Standing Half Double Crochet

Working in the side of rows

    Hdc - Half Double Crochet

    NOTES:

Do not work into the top of a stitch that has a post stitch worked around it.

All increases happen on one side of the shawl - the other side should be straight/even.

I recommend using stitch markers in the first stitch of each row, and along the increases side as a visual reminder.

This pattern uses two active loops. So be sure to put a stitch marker in the unused active loop to prevent your work from coming undone.

If you prefer not to use the magic circle, you can ch 2 and work 2 dc in the first ch made.

Or if you prefer to not use the CSDC or STDC, you can ch 3 and count it as your first dc st, or use your preferred dc alternative.

    SPECIAL ABBREVIATION

PULAD: Pull Up Loop And Drop - remove hook from active loop of yarn, and insert stitch marker to secure the loop. Move to the indicated active loop to continue pattern.

    Rows 13 - 16: Rep Rows 7 - 10, turn. (97 sts) Break E1 and E2.

Border - Crochet evenly around the entire shawl using the following scheme:

Use the "2" color that matches the section you are working around (ie: A2, B2, C2, D2, and E2).

Work the border sts around the ch 3 if there is one, around the dc if there is not.

Work 2 hdc around each ch 3, and work 2 dc around each dc.

    Skip the sc rows.

At the two corners of the last row, ch 2.

Along the last row, just sc in each st.

At the point (bottom of first row), work 3 dc.

Join to the first st at the end of the round with a sl st and break yarn. Or add a second round of border to make it your own!
