The Blue Moon Shawl is the Moogly Fall 2021 Crochet Along - a big triangle shawl that is warm, comforting, and takes you on a top-down stitch pattern adventure! This year's pattern is in cooperation with Yarnspirations, so you can follow along with the crochet along in parts here on Moogly, or go to Yarnspirations.com to get the whole pattern as a PDF!
Disclaimer: Materials for this pattern were provided by Yarnspirations.
Featuring Caron Big Donut O'Go
To make the Blue Moon Shawl I used 2 skeins of Caron Big Donut O'Go, both in the Blue Moon colorway. I love this color combo - it reminds me so much of Van Gogh's Starry Night!
I really loved using O'Gos for this project - the yarn stays tangle-free and flows easily, and you don't have to separate the colors until you're ready. Each section features the "next" color in the skein, minimizing the possible mess - or you can mix it up and create your own color scheme!
Follow Along with the Crochet Along... or Jump Ahead!
As is tradition, the Moogly Fall 2021 Crochet Along will be broken into 3 parts. This is Part 1 and includes pattern Sections 1-3 - aka Rows 1 through 28. You'll find the written instructions for each of these Sections as well as Right and Left-Handed Video Tutorials below.
Part 2 (Sections 4-6) will be posted on November 19, and Part 3 (Sections 7-10) will be posted on November 26. But if you can't wait...
Would you rather have the whole pattern as a PDF right now? CLICK HERE to go to Yarnspirations and follow along from there! Note that the Yarnspirations PDF also includes charts - another great way to follow along with this free crochet shawl pattern.

Thank you for the gorgeous pattern!
Since the Caron big donut o'go's are discontinued, do you think Caron One Pound would work alright for this pattern? Or do you have another yarn suggestion? I tried using my leftovers from the brick row shawl, but I just don't have enough.
Thanks
Tamara Kelly
Any of your favorite yarns of the same weight should work! 🙂
