Taking a Closer Look at Bernat Future Impact
Crafting and sustainability don’t always go together — but these new yarns from Bernat make it much easier to crochet and knit with an eco-conscious mindset. Even the labels are made from Kraft cardboard. Bernat Future Impact currently features 6 gorgeous colorways!

Taking a closer look at the preview skein that Yarnspirations sent me, this yarn has such a unique feel. It's not plasticy like some acrylics can be, but it's softer and drapier than many cotton yarns. Such a great combo! The color blend is consistent throughout the skein, but there is variation, depth, and shading in the plies. The yardage is really high for the weight, so the yarn itself is quite light.

I haven't seen this yarn used too much out there in the wild yet - but I think as warm weather returns, this one will really come into its own. One pattern I have seen for it is the Natural Poncho, by Selena Baca - a lovely and light layer ready for spring! Of course, I had to take a few stitches with it myself!

I decided to test Bernat Future Impact out by making a Bunny Ears Soap Sack! The cotton is great for bath applications, the acrylic will help it dry faster, and the polyester should make it last. I really enjoyed working with this yarn! It's soft to the touch, and I didn't encounter any splitting. It does work up a bit smaller than Lily Sugar'n Cream, the worsted yarn I originally used for the Sack, so be sure to check the gauge for any pattern you use it in - at least if it needs to fit something or someone. But then, that's always good advice! I hope to use the rest of the skein on a future project - I'm thinking a new beanie!
