Crochet Retro Blankets in One Week was written by Savannah Price and is the perfect follow-up to her previous book, Retro Crochet Style! Savannah is the creator behind Savannah's Stitches.
"Savannah is a crochet designer from Shepherdsville, Kentucky. She picked up a crochet hook for the first time in the summer of 2020, and she hasn’t put it down since. Can you really crochet a blanket in a week? I know I've done it a few times. And I know that a few of those times were right down to the wire - and crocheting is my job! So how does Savannah help us hit that goal? She's assigned each pattern a Level 1 through 3 - so you know if you're slower or a beginner, to start with Level 1.
There's a bit of build up before the patterns, with lots of great tips and tutorials packed in the first 25 pages. Then, it's on to the 40 fantastic patterns! Now, you might notice some of the image below are a little fuzzy. I had a preview PDF to use for this review, and the images didn't download as well as the rest of the photos. But the paperback should be here soon, and I'll be sure to show it off on the next Moogly Crochet and Catch Up!
Forty is a lot of patterns for any book, and if you look at the Table of Contents above, you'll only see 20 patterns listed. That's because each blanket pattern includes a matching pillow pattern!
So that means, each pattern includes gauge swatch instructions, written blanket pattern instructions, written pillow pattern instructions, and colorwork charts!
These instrutions are *complete*!
The patterns themselves are written for beginners, in a more casual style than the standard. But it's very easy to understand and follow along.
Also helping the speed - all the patterns I checked were made with worsted weight yarn or heavier!
Savannah's designs are fun, colorful, and nostalgic without being old-fashioned. The patterns look easy to follow, and the range of difficulty means there's something for everyone.
