Ok, ok, no more snazzy! I'm so glad so many of you read the entire posts! That was too funny. Ironically... I don't have much to say, but thank you all for following along and joining in this crochet-a-long! Now that we're in the home stretch, does anyone have thoughts for next year? Would you want to do this again? Let me know what you think in the comments! Now on to Block #16! And if this is the first you've heard of the 2014 Moogly Afghan Crochet-a-Long, then start HERE to read how it works!
Need to catch up? Here is the CAL schedule, with links to the previous blocks (click on the date to go to that blog post):
August 7th- THIS POST
September 4th and 18th
October 2nd, 16th, and 30th
November 13th and 25th
BLOCK #16: See How They Run 12" Afghan Block
by Margaret MacInnis
(Click the name of the pattern above to go to the Ravelry link for this pattern)

Above is the original, made with 3 colors. Isn't it lovely! Check the Ravelry page linked above, for more pics. And here's the one I made, also using just 3 colors (unblocked):
Now for my notes!
- Be sure to read the designer's Special Stitches descriptions - don't get confused, they make more sense with hook in hand!
- If you don't need the step by step photo tutorial, print just pages 1-3 to save paper and ink.
- The pattern itself is very easy and well written. Her note after Round 10, I was in the same spot! But of course take your own measurements.
- Since I used 3 colors as in the original pattern, I followed the color change instructions as written. My Color A was White, Color B was Green, and Color C was Blue.

I would love to do something like this next year! I have had a blast
Tamara Kelly
😀 Great! Thanks Danielle!
Michelle
Normally, I wouldn't comment, but I love CAL's and would love to see something liks this again. I can also picture doing a few rows on a blanket in a different pattern/design every few weeks rather than a different square.
Tamara Kelly
Ooo, I like that idea! Thanks Michelle! 😀
Jamie
I have been dying to try a mixed stitch blanket!!
Tamara Kelly
I think you're not alone - I'm liking the idea more and more! 😀
Kat
I would love to do something like this again next year! Your pacing is my favorite I've found so far, very forgiving if you miss a month to catch up. In fact I'm leaving tomorrow for awhile and can't take the afghan supplies with me, but totally look forward to catching up in October. I also second Michelle in that it doesn't have to be squares again if you think of something cool. 🙂
Tamara Kelly
😀 Thanks Kat! I'm so glad to hear it - thank you for the feedback!
Shannon A
I have really enjoyed this CAL. I would absolutely love to do another next year! I like the suggestion above, of a few rows on a blanket. Although, with so many beautiful squares out there, I would love to do another set of squares!
Penny Illemsky
I have enjoyed the CAL myaelf and look forward to another one next year if you should so decide.
jEN
I would love to take part in another CAL next year. I am new to crochet and have learnt so much from all these different squares. It's great fun! Thank you for organising it! 🙂
Tamara Kelly
😀 Thank you Jen!
Chandra
I am loving this! I am in for something next year for sure!
Tamara Kelly
😀 Yay! I'm so glad - thank you!
Becki
I have loved this and would love another one next year! I'd probably do a couple as Christmas gifts or a stashbuster.
Tamara Kelly
Fantastic! Thank you Becki!

I don't normally comment, but, yes! I would love to see another CAL. This is my first CAL afghan and I'm having a BLAST! I agree with some of the other comments made; more squares or rows in a blanket, which would be interesting too 😀
Tamara Kelly
😀 Thank you so much Jacki! I'm so glad!
Kyla
I have had so much fun on this CAL! I've learned so many new stitches and I always have a project to work on. Last week I found my yarn colors on clearance at Walmart so that definitely makes me happy! I will join you next year on whatever project we make, and thank you so much for taking the time to find patterns and for always answering questions I may have!
Tamara Kelly
😀 Thank you so much Kyla! I'm so glad to read it!
Angela
I would love to do another CAL next year! I had never done afghan squares before, and now I really enjoy them. 🙂
Tamara Kelly
😀 Thank you Angela, I'm so glad to hear it!
Mary
All the squares have been interesting. I know this is to be an afghan, but I can see some of these squares being used for shawls or ponchos too. I make a lot of prayer shawls, and will be using some of these for that. So maybe a prayer shawl or a poncho for next year? I do enjoy your posts.
Tamara Kelly
😀 Thank you Mary! What a fun idea!
Lisa
I would definetly like to something like this next year, I wont get this one done since I just found out about it but I will try to do some of the squares and maybe make the blanket on my own..
Tamara Kelly
😀 Thank you Lisa! I dare say there's still time to catch up if you have the time!
Michele
I just joined this CAL last week and am on block #3. I am learning so much from the patterns, your comments and the ravelry group. I would definitely join one next year.
Tamara Kelly
That's great to hear! Thank you Michele!
Jo
Love the pace of this and would definitely do it again. I have learnt so much. Although next year think I would choose a colour scheme as mine is all rather patch work. I like the idea of different stripes as well bit also the blocks are so transportable. I often do them on the train.
Susan
I have crocheted for years and I have so enjoyed learning new stitches and trying new patterns. I am up for another one of what every you decided to do next year. It is always so exciting to see the next pattern you post and how you offer alternative patterns. great fun hope to be a part of it next year.
Tamara Kelly
😀 Thank you so much Susan! It's been even more fun than I would've imagined!
Lacy
I just caught this on your Facebook page a few days ago. I've done block #1 and I'm on the last row of this block. I'm so excited I found this because I've been sitting on 3 jumbo skeins in Red, White, and Navy Blue since last November, just waiting for the right project for them. This is so perfect! I can't wait to get all caught up on the blocks. It's so much fun. Thank you for making this available to us. It's really tested my abilities, and made me a stronger braver crocheter.
Tamara Kelly
😀 That's fantastic to hear Lacy! Thank you!
katrina
Yes I would do another CAL with you next year also!!! this one has been fun.
Tamara Kelly
😀 Thank you Katrina, I'm so glad to hear it!
MYRIAM KLEIN

Any thoughts on adding the element of exchange next year?
Tamara Kelly
I think I'll probably stay away from that - too many variables, I'm afraid it would become a full time job!
Callyn
Yes please do this next year! I am looking forward to it. Thanks!
Tamara Kelly
😀 Thanks so much Callyn!
