And don't forget about the Moogly CAL group on Ravelry! The forum is still going strong, and it's a great place to connect with other crocheters and ask for help with the squares. You can click HERE to check it out. And now for Block #7!
(Click the name of the pattern above to go to the pattern page on Ravelry, where the pattern is available as a free downloadable PDF)
Unfortunately, I cannot share a photo of the original, as it's part of the PDF, and not shared on Ravelry. Additionally, this designer passed away a few years ago - we are so lucky to have her block to work on today! Here's my version, which is worked in 4 colors, rather than the 3 colors the original design calls for.

This pattern was extremely well written, and easy to make - but also be sure to count your stitches! I was working on it while distracted, and discovered that I'd missed a stitch in Round 1... while finishing up Round 6. A rookie mistake, and a good reminder that you're never too experience to count. your. stitches!
I had to start over, but the square practically flew off my hook after that - such a great pattern! Treble stitches mean you only need 9 rounds to finish a 12" square. This pattern was incredibly accurate too - mine came in exactly as predicted. It looks great, and I haven't even blocked it!
I hope you enjoy making the Drop in the Bucket Square! If it isn't to your taste, you can find a list of alternate free squares patterns by clicking HERE. Thanks so much for crocheting-a-long with me!
Kimberlee
This is a really pretty block. I am going to check out the ravelry group.
Tamara Kelly
😀 Thanks Kimberlee!
Carrie
Aww. . . That's so sad. We're praying for you Janie!
Tamara, I looked at her designs on ravelry and you couldn't have picked a prettier pattern. Wonder why it was called Drop in the Bucket. Anyone?
Tamara Kelly
Carrie, my best guess is the way it flows outward, like a drop of water in a lake? But it's so hard to say now! I'm glad you like it!
Dana
Tamara, even though your on square no.7, I'm planning to join, but first I want to know if all squares have to be different or can I use the same pattern for all squares? Thanks!
Tamara Kelly
Hi Dana! With this CAL we're making a different square every 2 weeks - but you are welcome to make only the one or few that you want to make! 😀 Sub in others, make a bunch of blankets, it's all up to you!
Katy
I have just ordered some yarn and plan on joining you and having a major catch up session when it arrives. Can't wait! X
Tamara Kelly
😀 Yay! Welcome welcome!
Simi
Hi. I am a touch confused about round 2 and holding the loops. I seem to have two instead of three. Can you help please? Ta x
Tamara Kelly
Hi Simi! That part can be a little confusing. By holding the last loop on the hook, what she means is to stop when there are still 2 loops left on the hook - don't finish off the first tr. Then start a second tr in the same stitch, and as you work that off, when you get to the point where you have 3 loops left on the hook, you yarn over and pull through all three loops. 🙂 I hope that helps!
heather
is it just me or is anyone else having a problem opening the webpage for this square?
Tamara Kelly
It's an online pdf, and it does take a few minutes to load.
stephanie lavere
was wondering the best way to block the square
great choices on squares looking for the future one
Tamara Kelly
Hi Stephanie, and thank you! I wrote an article on blocking squares - just click here! 🙂
