The Oh My Cowl and Oh My Hat were such hits this year, I had to design one more pattern (for now!) to add to the set - the Oh My Mitts! I hope you enjoy this free crochet fingerless mitts pattern!

OMG they're so beautiful. I've been checking this site litteraly every day to see if there were matching gloves for this pattern, and I was overjoyed when I saw there were. Thank you so much, Tamara, and Merry Christmas!
And now... off to crocheting 🙂

Hi Tamara,
Maybe you can help me with a special request (brace yourself :)).
I made these gloves as a Christmas present for my grandma who lives in a nursing home. Orginially, I just wanted her to have something nice and cozy for the wheelchair walks in the park we do some times, but the nurses absolutely love the gloves and let her wear them every day to protect her skin (which has become paper thin with old age). Before that they were using white bandages with a cut out hole for the thumb, and I'm so glad that she has something soft and pretty instead.
Anyway, the nurses asked me if it was possible to extend the gloves to near ellbow length as this would be ideal for skin protection purposes. I thought, maybe you could help me with extending the pattern and share it with everyone else. After all, many of us have relatives in nursing homes and could be interested in such a pattern.
Cheers and many thanks!

Hello Lilu! I'm so glad to hear the pattern has helped her so much! The tricky part with your request is that everyone has such different sized arms. I would recommend taking a quick measurement of the circumference of her arm, and working the first round to that measurement, minus just a bit so they can stretch to fit without being tight. Then, repeat Round 2 until you're about where her wrist would be. At that point, you may need to decrease a little bit to get to 24 stitches. Then work the glove portion as normal! Making the main stitch pattern work for every size arm would be pretty difficult, but this solution should work for just about everybody. 🙂 I hope that helps!

Hi Tamara, thanks for the lovely pattern.
I'm struggling with the thumb space - rows 19 & 20 - I'm still new to looking at the * and ** for the repeat so I'm not sure I'm reading it right.
So on Row 19 I can follow the instructions....but then I only have 3 V stitches and a ch 7 space. If I force the 4th V stitch in then Row 20 does not work.
On row 20 it looks like the final big shell is into the ch-7 space not a V stitch - giving me the 4 big shells. is that correct?
Thanks
Tamara Kelly
Hello Mairi, and thank you! 🙂 I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble!
I'm afraid I had a type there - the stitch counts for Row 19 should be 3 V sts, I apologize! And yes, on Row 20 the big shell goes in the ch-7 sp. I've fixed the pattern, thank you so much for letting me know!

Thanks Tamara....good to know I can finish them now.
