ALL ABOUT THE MARKET DAY CARDIGAN
There are so many amazing projects you can make with granny squares! I'm excited to share yet another unique way to make a granny square sweater! In a way, this one is like a stay-put wrap or shawl - so cozy and wearable!

The Market Day Cardigan is made to be big and cozy - a final layer to throw on when cuddling up in a cozy chair, heading to work in a chilly office, or wandering through the local shops! (Of course, freezing temps might require a coat...) So with that in mind, there are 3 sizes to fit most - and you can customize your fit a bit when you choose your size. There is also an opportunity to try it on as you go!

One of the super fun things about this pattern is the way it transforms from "squares" to a wearable piece - all in just one final section! This means that the Market Day Cardigan is wonderful for every skill level. If you're a beginner, you'll learn how to crochet a granny square, how to crochet in the front and back loop only, and how to sew the mattress stitch. If you've done all that before, then you'll have a wonderfully relaxing crochet project with a fun finish to tickle your brain a little!

HOW THE MARKET DAY CARDIGAN CROCHET ALONG WORKS
Starting today and going for the next 2 weeks of January 2024, I will post a section of the Market Day Cardigan crochet pattern. Each post will go live at 10 am Central US time, barring technical difficulties. There will also be a video tutorial for each section, shared in both right and left-handed versions - these will debut later that same week. These posts will be right here on mooglyblog.com, and free for all! On your end, all you need to do is make the pattern - no need to sweat the deadline, take your time! Now that this CAL is done, each part is linked below!
Here is the Schedule:

THE YARN FOR THE MARKET DAY CARDIGAN
To make this crochet vest I used new Red Heart All In One Granny Square yarn! I was just as skeptical as you at first - could it really work? And there was definitely a learning curve. However, I'm so glad I kept at it! I do think it's important to be patient, be willing to "frog it and fix it" here and there, and let go of perfectionism. After all, crochet can only be made by hand, it's an art!

I went with the Aran-Cream colorway for a neutral look, but this yarn has so many great color options each sweater can be unique! Mix and match them for a custom look, or use another 4-worsted/medium-weight yarn to make your own 6" granny squares.

Stay Tuned for Part 2!
Okay, so it's a pretty predictable start for a crocheted granny square sweater - but we have to start at the beginning, right? Next week it starts taking shape, but this week is all about getting used to the yarn and stacking up those squares. If you make this pattern and post a photo on social media, be sure to tag @mooglyblog or #mooglyblog and #yarnspo so I can check it out too!

So hard to find the yarn! Finally found it on Yarnspirations, but now it's delayed due to all the bad weather. I cannot wait to try the granny square yarn! I gave up on making anything with granny squares years ago because of all the weaving in of loose ends. Great idea, Red Heart!

Hi Tamara
I have to admit I was a little disappointed when I saw your design wasn’t a true cardi. I see it as more of a vest or a shrug. That doesn’t mean I am not going to make one and rock that bad boy. Keep up the good work.

Many years ago, my mom and aunt bought cardigans at a craft show that were made with granny squares. They received so many compliments when wearing them and of course, asked if they made them, or where did they buy them. Mom and her sister were always chilly. I'm going to make this in memory of both lovely ladies.
