Classic Baby Crochet for Every Occasion
After a quick intro and a page of helpful tips, this book jumps right into the patterns! The 30 patterns in Crochet Baby Sets are broken into 10 coordinated sets, each with its own cute name, and all made with "3" weight yarn. The pattern writing style is what I would call US standard - easy to read, complete, with stitch counts included.
Each set includes a slightly different grouping: Theo includes socks, a hat, and a vest. Molly includes a onseie, shorts, and a bib. Ari consists of a hat, booties, and blanket - and there are 7 more sets! While these divisions make it easy to put together a set for big gifts, they can also be mixed and matched - I think the Theo Socks match the Molly Onsie beautifully!
Overall, in Crochet Baby Sets you get patterns for 7 hats, 5 blankets, 4 booties, a dress, 4 sweaters, a pair of mitts, 2 pairs of socks, shorts, sandals, onsie, headband, leggings, and a bib! You can pull this book out for every baby shower for life, just update the colors. They are solid basics that will give new crocheters quick success and give experienced crocheters basics to embellish and personalize!
Finally, the back has the usual but useful stitch tutorials, accompanied by some great full-color photos! There are also a couple of pages on how to read a pattern, confirming this as a great first book to gift a new crocheter - particularly one with a new family member on the way.
