Simple Rectangles Seamed Right!
To make the Lakeside Tee, you only have to know how to work in rows – there’s no shaping here! Two simple rectangles become a top when they are seamed just right. All you have to do is leave room for the head and arms. This pattern is designed with about 2-4″ of positive ease in the bust, so it’s great alone or as a layering piece. To make it longer, just add more rows – just make sure to add the same to both pieces!
Designed with Bernat Softee Cotton
Bernat Softee Cotton is one of my favorite yarns! The cotton acrylic blend creates a soft texture that feels amazing to wear in any weather. It’s machine washable, so it’s easy to care for – and you can wear the Lakeside Tee as often as you like. The finished top is perfect with jeans, but dresses up for work just as well – and might just inspire a trip to the shore!

Carrying Yarn Along the Side of a Project
NOTES:
This pattern is made in two identical pieces that are then seamed.
Be sure to follow the instructions for the size you are making. The sizes are written as XS(S, M, L, XL, 2X, 3X, 4X, 5X). In sections that do not include particular sizes, those numbers are replaced with an “X“.
If you would prefer not to use FDC for the first row, you can use standard dc sts – just make the number required for your size.
If you are using two colors you can carry your yarn along the side. If you wish to use 3 colors, you will need to change color every row to float it along the side. For more colors, use your best judgment – cutting the yarn may be the best option.
To determine your best size, measure your bust at the largest point. Double the width shown in the schematic below to see how big around the tee will be, and choose your size.

All colours of the recommended yarn are out of stock on both the US Yarnspirations site, as well as the Canadian site.
Is there a substitute you can suggest?
Tamara Kelly
They should be back in stock soon! But any 3-Light yarn should work. 🙂

Sorry, I didn’t realize – when the message came up asking if I wanted to switch from the US Yarnspirations site to the Canadian site, I thought it changed. Turns out, the yarn isn’t available at all in Canada.
