What other yarn will work besides the hyffia or soft? cn i just use regular worsted 4bply?
Tamara Kelly
You can use whatever Worsted or Aran weight yarn you like. 🙂

Hi Laura! I demo both sizes in the tutorial – skip ahead for the beginning of the large size! 🙂
Mary
Thank you so much for the pattern and
Tutorial I’m still very new at this
I need all the help I can get.

I have used this pattern to make a gorgeous beanie for a friend of mine. I now have bought super bulky yarn and was wondering how it would work with this pattern.
Tamara Kelly
You’ll probably want to stop increasing as soon as you get to 6- 6.5″ across for the crown. 🙂
Jess
Hi, thank you for ur gorgeous pattern. As I’m using a 4mm hook I was wondering how to make sure the hat has the right fit. Thank you.
Tamara Kelly
Hi Jess! Just make sure to increase enough to get the right crown measurement – for an adult that’s around 6.5 inches.
Elke
Will this work with the hygge yarn you used for the soft cloud hygge hat? What size hook would you advise to use, and what increase instructions? I am new at this …
Merry Christmas
Tamara Kelly
That yarn is a different weight, but I’d probably keep the same hook size and check the gauge – if it’s a bit big, I’d go with the instructions for the smaller hat then to make the larger size. 🙂
Angelica
I want to make it for my son but he’s only two and I’m trying to figure out how small I should make. But I’m not sure
Tamara Kelly
The simplest thing might be to drop down to a sport weight yarn and smaller hook! ♥
Susan McAllister
For 17″ and 19″ heads, would you just drop down a hook size, I was also thinking of using Mandala. Thank you.
Tamara Kelly
Yes, that should work! 🙂 I’m not familiar with that yarn to say how it will work up.
Kianga Kearney
So I absolutely LOVE this hat and thanks so much for doing a left hand tutorial. I’m having some size issue with this hat. So I used my J hook thinking it would make the appropriate size but it doesn’t. This hat is still more for a child that it is for an adult. I’m worried that if I use a K hook it will be too big. Where did I go wrong?
Tamara Kelly
Hi Kianga! It sounds like it’s a gauge issue – everyone is different, and that’s okay, that’s why we list gauge! I’d try it with the K hook and see if that gets you to the gauge listed in the pattern.

So I have been struggling to make the adult size. My rounds 6&7 look squished since the round 5 for the small/teen is done differently from the adult. The adult version had bottom points for the diamonds at end kf row 5 so to follow the teen for round 6&7 I end up with many more than 64 stitches and it’s all very squished. Any tips or possibilities for update video for just the adult?
Tamara Kelly
Hi Christina! I’m afraid I’m a bit confused. You should have points for the bottom of the diamonds still made in Rnd 3. Rnd 6 for the adult version is worked even. Are you by chance working into the stitches behind the post stitches?
